Please Support the Atlanta Solidarity Fund!!

Within the last hour, an audio recording of Atlanta PD just dropped, with police admitting that the arrest of the three members of the Atlanta Solidarity Fund (ASF) this Wednesday was a blatant attempt to disrupt support for the Defend the Forest Movement, by cutting off mutual aid and bail funds.

The first trial hearing today was to determine if the arrestees would get bail. Even the judge could tell the charges were BS—money laundering and charity fraud—When all their transactions are public knowledge. But the court still set bail at $15,000 each to appease prosecution.

The ASF has been forced to use their own funds to avoid being jailed over the weekend, and with one of them denied disability aids and medications! One of the stipulations of the bail is that they can’t use their resources to support (deliberately vague at to what counts as support) the Defend the Forest movement.

The police are worried that the timing of the arrest before the City Council’s final Cop City budget vote on Monday June 5th may have galvanized protesters instead of disrupting them. But APD will follow this pattern of targeting bail funds and charities on the grounds of “enabling violence.” There is a high likelihood of more arrests more coming, and they see it as an opportunity to get overtime pay.

National Bail Out

Sure, my mom likes a good brunch and will not sneeze at flowers (except the ones she's allergic to). But what she really loves is a good family reunion. Mom is the kind of person who, back when you could be at an airport gate without a ticket, would spend a little time watching people at Arrivals just for the sheer wash of happiness on the faces of people coming back to the folks who loved them.

Maybe six years ago, I thought: that would actually translate pretty well into a bail fund donation. Our tradition, just the two of us, is that she donates to things that make her think of me, and I donate to things that make me think of her.

R is a queer, HIV-positive person from Lexington, KY. He is autistic and is in his mid-twenties. R was arrested on Sunday July 21, 2024 on a

URGENT NEED!!!

R is a queer, autistic, HIV-positive person from Lexington, Kentucky. He is currently being held on bail in a different county for a non-violent felony charge. Jail staff have repeatedly abused R - assaulting him, putting him in solitary confinement, depriving him of any contact with family or friends or access to his medications.

Please contribute whatever you are able. R is in danger every second that he stays in jail.

R and his partner live in constant precarity. They simply do not have the $2500 the court wants for bail and the court has refused to lower the bail to a reasonable amount. There are no bail bondsmen in Kentucky, so R and his partner have no choice right now but to raise the cash needed for R's bail.
