There is something so magical about bread. My uncle gave me some of his starter a few months ago and all the bread I make now has this incredible aroma and flavor. History, Chemistry and family make all the difference. Do you bake bread? Any inherited tips and tricks you swear by for great results? I always use two kinds of starter: one very thin and liquidy, the other more dough consistency. I use them both in each and every loaf. I am a big fan of flavored salts in bread. These little beauties are an interesting experiment that worked out great! Caramelized banana cinnamon muffin cruffin What to do when you have small amount of ingredients and need to use them up! I had 1 banana, enough other things for most of a muffin batter, 1 sheet of puff dough and some sugar. I melted the sugar with a cinnamon stick and glazed slices of the banana. Slice the puff dough into 12 strips and line a muffin tin with 1 strip each form, pour in the muffin batter (I use a spring scoop for uniform amounts) top with a slice of caramelized banana and a bit of extra caramel because why not?! Bake! The muffin dough cooks inside the pastry which becomes a nice shell and the banana bakes into the top! There is always a way to use up what ever you have on hand.
