The first day on the trip to #lapazbcs and the first of many firsts I’d check off on my list was the #swimmingwiththewhalesharks experience 😬 Look back a few posts to see my take on that amazing #opportunityofalifetime but you should know the amount of #behindthescenes prep that goes on…🙌🏾 We had a two person team , a captain and a guide (whose background in marine research was a big plus) and lots of safety built into our visit for us but more so for the whale sharks👍🏽 Aside from the initial introductions of explaining the experience and setting up everyone with gear (wetsuit and flippers etc) , they also give you a pretty good rundown of the processes in place to ensure the whale sharks are protected as well as in depth information about the area itself and how whale sharks are treated the world over 💕 Your guide is with you for every dip you take to get close to the whale sharks while they feed and your captain is probably the first person to thank for sighting them and taking you to the right spot for the best experience 👊🏽 Our visit included a short time at #balandrabeach where we had a little lunch picnic and some downtime after the thrill of hanging out with those beauties in the water 🙂 (ps unlike some other boats I’ve been on this one even had a teeny tiny itty bitty emergency loo tucked into it too!! 😲so you see - they got you covered no matter what lol!)
