Episode 6

Okay, so episode 6, Girls, is my favorite episode for so many reasons: Nick coming out the Tara and Darcy, the triple date, the whole thing centered on an orchestra concert, cute moments between Nick and Charlie (As per usual). However, one thing I found unrealistic was the orchestra plotline. So, I'm a band kid, and usually you go out for a celebratory snack after the concert, not before, for many reasons. One of which being you're not really supposed to eat before blowing into an instrument, but another reason being you have a call time. It gave me so much anxiety seeing them still drinking milkshakes 15 minutes before the concert, and then leisurely walking over. My call times for band has been anywhere between 2 hours, and 30 minutes. If you weren't there at the designated time, the director would yell at you. Second, don't most places let people sit down at least 30 minutes before the show? Why did they wait until 5 minutes before the show started to let people in? Anyway, I'm being nitpicky. It's just those couple details that get on my nerves. I still really love the episode.

I haven’t been very active because school AND because I’m working on a project for this account, coming out in October, so stay tuned for that.

AATC and what BAND instruments they play

I’m doing this because I’m a major band nerd and marching band is a big thing during the fall.

Alvin- Trumpet

If you’re in band, you know why. Trumpets are very LOUD and think they own the place

Brittany- Flute

Flutes are the woodwind versions of trumpets. I feel like flutes are those popular girls that are pretty egotistical, but I’m always friends with a lot of the flutes and they are not all like this.

Simon- French Horn/ mellophone

So there is a whole connected reason with Simon and Jeanette’s instrument choice. I play French horn and my crush who is also in band plays clarinet. I felt like me and him were the embodiments of Simon and Jeanette; glasses, shy, sweet and intelligent. Simon is a horn player because he’s a tiny bit more confident than Jeanette, AND I feel like horn is a very sophisticated instrument.

Jeanette- Clarinet

If I didn’t play horn, I would play clarinet. Period. I feel like clarinet players are super shy (Jeanette). My crush who plays clarinet was always 2nd chair and is an amazing player, and I’m not just saying that because I like him. Clarinet is a pretty competitive instrument so I think that Jeanette would be REALLY good at it and make 1st chair and do all region/state band.

Theodore- Percussion

Theodore plays the drums already in the chipmunks band and it just kinda fits him. This boy that used to like me (that I didn’t like back, sorry) was a percussionist and was actually a really sweet guy. He also kind of looks like a tall version of Theodore.

Eleanor- Tuba/Euphonium/Trombone

Eleanor gets the majority of the low brass instruments because she doesn’t want a little woodwind stick. She wants the big ones with low sounds. One of my best friends was really tomboyish and she was my only brass friend who played trombone. Eleanor would be better than all the boys in her section 😌💅

I've been watching an anime called Sound! Euphonium, and WHOO boy it's making me relive my band kid days hardcore. Super good anime, gorgeous animation and awesome music. Reminded me that I'll always be a band nerd at heart ❤️ I pick up my sax every now and then, and really don't I think I'll ever be able to fully let it go.
