Wild life session 3 had many deaths, here they are as a bar graph
i got bored so i turned numbers of pins on my pinterest boards into a graph. left is <100 pins and right is 100+ pins
some of the numbers on the right didnt show up so theyre 128, 316, and 330
the fandom on here ive been in longest is probably wof. (althought the one i was most interested in when i got pinterest was probably sp, and when i started organizing my boards by fandom is impossible to tell but based on my unreliable memory probably ii) newest one is ultrakill
A study into The Captain and all the random stuff he does. Largely inspired by the graphs that @m0ose-idiot made about ghosts insults. I tried my best, but the data is probably not perfect.
The Transactor Vol. 5 Issue 4
The "business and education" focus of this issue included a look ahead to the computerized office of "the nineties," supposing that "flat-panel display technology will allow senior management to carry portable computers in their brief case and link to their offices to conduct business as required." Chris Zamara's editorial insisted that "while IBM seems to have the stronghold on the business micro market," "an 8032 with an 8250 drive, for example, outperforms an IBM compatible machine hands-down in terms of disk access," and the "new 8296" would capture "an even greater segment of the business market."
2024 annual auroracord protagonist message mentions report
yeah hi uh i'm not that active on auroracord but i love to measure data (in discord messages) over regular periods of time. i thought this could be a nice thing to discuss as a fandom
(we're supposedly using mentions within discord messages as our measure of popularity. gonna discuss one potential flaw of this metric in the Factors section)
2023 mentions
this is my second time making one of these graphs. 1st time was on may 22 2023, less than an hour after the page uploaded, purely out of boredom. it also documented a one year span. i'm not going to discuss this one rn but the rest of you can
may 22 2022 - may 22 2023 kendal: 5041 alinua: 2971 erin: 7546 falst: 4788 tess: 3926 dainix: 3385
2024 mentions
kendal: 7065 alinua: 4142 erin: 8662 falst: 9006 tess: 4432 dainix: 6921
factors affecting character mentions
appearance frequency within current arc
i'd say narrative role would be a pretty major one in other cases but like these are all protagonists. they've been here the whole time
fandom popularity (there is a BUNCH of factors within this one haha. individual & societal biases are going to play in here) -- real life fan demographics (age, gender, sexual orientation, various neurodivergences etc. can't break this down by category because discord's very private but this is probably affecting popularity somehow) -- fandom demographics (kendal fans vs alinua fans vs dainix fans present in the server etc) -- character complexity i guess (ex. i'd say tess would get less discussion bc her character's like kind of comfy & resolved already). this factor is also very subjective subjective (refer to point below) -- from the previous 2 points, demographics of the characters themselves (gender, race, sexual orientation? uh. personality if you want to share disorders with them, age if that varied that much for these guys, etc.)
FLAW: controversy! they don't have to be liked to be discussed. worth noting that on discord (conversation platform) majority favorites may trump individual tastes here (ex. a kendal fan may end up mentioning erin more because he comes up in conversation more often)
expected changes:
overall numbers are higher compared to last year due to higher server population
dainix & falst get a huge boost mentions because of dungeon arc & subsequent shipping stuff
alinua remains the lowest 😐
tess gets less discussion due to her character being like. pretty comfortable . what i said
unexpected changes:
alinua's mentions were like half erin's what the hell. still remaining staggeringly low somehow
kendal's position is in a relatively similar place. was expecting him to be lower but that's probably because i personally don't think of him that much
ok i've been not very active here but i don't recall people discussing erin so much that he can compete with the emerging crustables yaoi
to do:
make an average 'character mentions per month' graph for the 6 aurora protags. i want to get a baseline of how many mentions are normal for them
anyway if you liked these graphs i encourage you to make your own for other fan servers you may be a part of. fun activity
