Conclusion: After months spent embedded within a wand counterfeiting ring, undercover auror, Laura Morrow, found herself loving that life more than her own within the force, even falling into a relationship with one of the ring’s dealers, Alex Granados. Laura’s partner Trinity Maxwell would help her hatch a plan to leave her life behind as an auror and to fully jump into the skin of her undercover alias. To do this, Trinity and Laura stole a John Doe from the morgue, and polyjuiced the corpse to look like Laura, even going so far to add a killing curse mark to its chest. With the corpse looking identical to Laura, her death was successfully faked. Unfortunately, months later, Laura would befall the same fate after the counterfeiting ring’s boss discovered her true identity. Trinity, Granados, Zazzo (the counterfeiting boss), and Warrick Michaels (Zazzo’s hitman) are now all currently in holding, awaiting sentencing.

Conclusion: After going undercover as a married suburban couple, Becker and Baron were able to slowly gain the trust of the reported cult’s recruitment coordinator, Sherry Richardson. This allowed them a meeting with the cult’s leader, Tobias Smith. Unbeknownst to Becker and Baron, Smith had previously determined they were not who they said they were. Smith then attempted to obliviate the couple, but Becker was able to shield the spell and inadvertently hit Smith with his own obliviate. Tobias Smith would be arrested and transported to a MACUSA holding cell, awaiting arraignment. The cult members, including Sherry Richardson, were obliviated by the Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation. The case is now considered to be closed.

BACKGROUND:

She doesn’t fully grasp what her mother’s maiden name means until she’s well into her teenage years.

As a child, it’s just a beautiful name she wishes she had, too. She’s a little fantastical as a child, convinced fairytales can be real, that the good guys always win. Anderson is such a boring last name when she could be Snow. Snow is less rare than people think where she grows up in the middle of the Bluegrass, but it’s still magical to her. She spends so much time with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins on her father’s side, none of them magic, that the snow becomes a symbol of that part of her history she’s hardly allowed to know. All of her mother’s family is gone, after all, and there’s something unreadablein her mother’s eyes when any of them are brought up, especially her mother’s father. Only when she shows her first sign of magic, creating snowfall in her bedroom, when the clouds don’t delivered the promised sheets of white, does she see something she can read in her mother’s eyes; betrayal.

After that, she sees that same betrayal more and more often.

She goes to Ilvermorny, takes up residence in Thunderbird, and it all comes so naturally sometimes other kids seem surprised her father is a no-maj. It’s third year, before she sticks up for herself using the other name, Snow. It’s third year when she first begins to understand why her mother never talks about her family, why her eyes leave hers when she asks about them. But she pushes. She pushes and she learns on her own what her mother won’t give her. And even then, devouring all the information she can about the family she isn’t allowed to know, the grandfather they never talk about, things don’t seem to add up. It’s horrifying to read about, nearly unimaginable what he grandfather had confessed to, but she’s convinced there was a reason for it all, and that whether it was justified or not, it was just as horrifying that the blame had been settled on his shoulders alone.

Once, in passing, during her fifth year, when Baron’s home for Christmas, the controversy gets mentioned, and her mother slips, it just doesn’t seem right, she says, before remembering herself, and shutting down the topic. But that’s all she needs.

The path is laid out so clearly, it’s hard to focus on anything else. She’s going to fix this herself, better late than never, and she’s going to do so as an auror herself. She throws herself into her studies, determined to be the smartest, the fastest, the strongest. Her mother does everything she can to try to convince her not to become an auror, anything but that, but once her mind is set there’s no changing it. Not even when that look of betrayal is turned on her.

She’s accepted into the New Orleans Academy, and he mother begs her not to go, tells her it’s not worth all the pain she’ll be putting on herself, carrying so much on her shoulders that doesn’t need to be hers. It was so long ago, what can be done now? But for Baron, the answer is simple.

Faber est suae quisque fortunae.

After that things move quickly. She driven, determined. She drops the name Anderson, and only spends stilted holidays with her family, the disapproval always dripping off of her mother. She’s good, though, and she’s convinced that she’ll end up where she needs to be, on the Eastern Squad, the first real step to changing things, and solving things.

It’s a disappointment, and not a small one, when, after a short but productive time on the Kentucky Squad, she’s asked to join the Central Squad. It doesn’t feel right, even if she can see why they would make that decision. She couldn’t ignore the looks the name Snow received on her home state’s squad, after all. But she wonders how she can find what she needs to prove there was more to her grandfather’s story, how can she fix the associations with Snow if she’s not even in the right place?

No amount of arguing gets her assignment changed, though, and so she tells herself that she doesn’t have to stay with the Central Squad, that if she can work hard enough, prove just how good she is, she can make her case again, and get to the root of things. The funny thing is, though, that when she arrives in Chicago, and introductions are made, she realizes the rumors she had heard were true. And she couldn’t give less of a fuck about a vampire, or whatever the other’s done to stay so untouched by time, too. No, what matters is that this squad isn’t such a waste of time in that regard after all, because they knew Allen Snow.

The problem is she’s not necessarily the most likable person when she wants something, when her mind’s so set on it that there’s barely room for anything else, and maybe more than that, she’s not sure if it would even help if she was.

And the detour of the Central Squad slowly becomes a home she didn’t ask for, as time and time again her requests for relocation are denied, even as she easily moves up the ranks faster than any of the others who graduated around her same time. It’s easier to focus on something she can actually control, so she puts all her efforts into making her way to the top, until she can put herself in the place she needs to be to solve her family’s mystery. Change the associations with the name Snow herself, and maybe enjoy the power that comes with that.
