"Hey champ, how've you an' Caddy been doin'?" Piers asked, reaching over to scratch the shiny Zigzagoon Gloria held in her arms under the chin.

    CADDY CATCHES ONTO Piers’ approach long before Gloria does, and by the time Piers is close enough to touch the pokemon, the little Zigzagoon is wagging her tail hard enough to move her entire lower body. Gloria smiles down at her excited little pokemon before grinning up at Piers.

❝She’s doin’ great! Gettin’ along with the others like a dream! I think even Vela is warmin’ up to her, even if she pretends the opposite.❞

    Gloria adjusts her grip on the wiggly little dark-type, moving one hand up to scratch Caddy behind the ears.

❝She’s been gettin’ stronger, too! Learned Pin Missile just th’ other day!!❞

when avery says that he’s exhausted a fair amount of his power through battling, he means it very literally. skilled psychic trainers tend to flex their abilities in battles, though not necessarily through ways you would be able to pick out. 

( mostly telepathic communication with their pokemon on strategy, or using future sight to attempt to predict outcomes, for example. this isn’t really a fair fight that way, but nobody said psychic trainers played as clean &&. composed as they like to present themselves. ) 

although avery’s own capabilities are extremely weak &&. limited ( as of now ), his volatile emotions during a fight will often tire him out instead. as we see with caitlin, those gifted with esp are easily overtaken with whatever intense feelings they have in the moment, &&. it’s advised that they stay calm rather than let it flare up. of course, not that avery really abides by that, with how sorely he takes losses against his pride. whether it’s the high of a victory, or the crushing defeat of being bested, it’s all much too strong for his body to handle. it isn’t rare to find him significantly fatigued or drowsier after an all-out battle, even if he plays it off for his ego’s sake &&. whatever false, phony pretense that he’s playing up at the time. generally speaking, he likes to push himself beyond it --- but he’s equally guilty of taking naps, too.

        “So many young trainers questioning themselves and their identities could really find comfort knowing people like them are able to be loved, respected, and strong.” He twirls a lock of hair around his finger absentmindedly ( a habit picked up from Sonia, admittedly ), his grin widening. “I can only hope I—and others like you and I—can inspire them.”

❛  o  - oh! uhmm ...  ❜  she had been making her rounds to introduce herself to her fellow league members, since coming to galar she was ... well, it was safe to say that she was definitely an odd girl in a crowd of thousands. some people have burned holes into the back of her head with their stares  &  has slipped up on numerous occasions as she’s made her way around. opting to simply walk  &  take in the sights this region had to offer, it was ... her new home, was it not? thus, evianna made the effort to familiarize herself with her new home. one of these stops meant visiting spikemuth.

she didn’t really think she’d be so caught out ... quickly too, for that matter - the man before her had such a striking appearance, black and white hair longer than her own  &  such pretty green eyes! if it wasn’t rude to stare, she’d take a moment longer to get a real good glimpse at them!  ❛  i’m evianna ... i’m the new addition to the league as of yesterday  &  i wanted to introduce myself to my colleagues!  ❜  the way she speaks, though, sounds like she was put under a microscope  -  evianna, calm your nerves!  ❛  &  ....   &  i came to speak with the gym leader of spikemuth  &  its affiliates!  ❜  good going, now you just sound unbearably clueless in terms of presentation. as if to prove her point, phoebus, her ampharos merely stands at her side but looks at her with a rather unamused glance.

❝Hey Glo, uh... I was wonderin' if y'could do me a favour?❞ Piers asked as he approached the young champion. In his arms, he held a Zigzagoon, but instead of it's normally black fur was a hot pink, with pale blue eyes and tongue that lolled from it's mouth as it panted. It was quite small, smaller than average, and it looked quite young still. ❝Would ya 'ave space f'this lil guy?❞

❝Mmn?❞

    The curious little sound is Gloria’s initial response at hearing Piers’ voice behind her, though upon turning around, the sound becomes something more akin to a squeak. In a serious manner that (perhaps hilariously) contradicted the absolute adoration in her voice, Gloria points at the zigzagoon with as much power as she could muster.

❝That!! Is an absolute baby, there!!❞

    As her arm lowers, the actual question Piers asked sinks in properly, and her eyes widen in a delayed sort of surprise.

❝Er, wait, me? Take care’a them? I’ve got room for ‘em for sure, but are you sure??❞

"do you have a lighter?" Piers asks. It's just the two of them, standing on one of the ramparts of Hammerlocke Castle, overlooking it's city. He hopes Raihan doesn't ask why.

❛  hm?  ❜  he turns his head towards the other, when piers asks his question, raihan stands up straight from leaning on the edge.  ❛  a lighter? uhm ... hold on -  ❜  he replies before he’s patting his pants, thankfully they weren’t on schedule for the day, out of uniform  &  without a single worry. short mentions of a wait leave his lips as he continues to pat himself down, i have one on me, i know i d -  ❛  here it is. but ... why, you don’t smoke, do you? i’ve never seen you do it before - you were usually the one to swat at me for smokin’.  ❜
