hey soooo this is something I found in my notes app and I'm not planning on finishing it, so i thought I'd post it here. enjoy my crappy writing!
it's bartylus btw
regulus
the november air was heavy. i hated it. in fact, i hated the whole month. i hadn't always hated it, but things change, and, i learned, so do people. I'm not really sure at what point sirius decided that he hated me, or that i was not his best friend-or just a simple friend. actually, that's a lie. james potter had ruined everything. he did. ever since sirius had gone off to hogwarts and met potter, he hadn't been the same. maybe it was for the best that he wasn't like me. maybe it was also for the best that he didn't like me. for his well being, i mean.
i was sitting in the common room, with some muggle book from dorcas called "the great gatsby", when evan asked me if he could talk to me for a while. in our dorm room. i reluctantly agreed. he brought me to our dorm, and he was very nervous. he was walking in circles around the room.
"evan, what do you want? I'm kind of trying to do something." i asked in an obnoxious tone.
"i-you're clever, reg, innit?" he asked.
i was a bit taken aback by the question, but i answered it anyway. "um. i don't like to flatter myself, but... yeah, i guess?"
he sighed. "well. h-how do you know-fuck this, mate." and he took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and lit one. "how do i know if i like-love someone?"
i raised my eyebrow and smirked.
"c'mon, rosier, who do you love?" i asked.
"not funny at all, regulus, i swear it's not funny. I'll tell you later, but now just tell me." he was serious.
"right. well. I'm not really an expert on that, mate" which was a lie. "i guess you, think about them tons, and think or know they're pretty. you get this-this feeling, y'know. you see them, and you just-know."
evan scoffed and smirked, beforw which he had a very worried look on his face. "well, aren't you smart about the topic? tell me, black, who's got your heart?"
i tutted. "nobody, you noisy old wanker."
barty then came back from the library.
"how are you lads?" he smiled.
evan was suddenly in a rush to leave the room. i wondered what that was about, but decided it best not to ask.
well, i asked barty.
"what's up with him?"
"don't worry about it, regulus, he just... was wrong about something" barty nodded as he said.
apparently they fought real bad.
barty had got braces in the summer, and he was convinced it looked flattering. which, it did, but i couldn't let him know. or could i?
"saw your brother, reg." he was kind of cold towards me since october that year, and i acged like it didn't bother me.
"hm?"
"him and potter, of course. staring daggers at me, they were."
"yeah?"
"mhm.." he said, walking over to my bed, and lay down. odd, i thought.
"we haven't talked in a while." he said, slowly sitting up. i was confused, honestly, because he looked so serious. well-
everybody was so serious these days. and everyone says I'm boring. i half smiled.
"well, what do you want to talk about, bat?" i asked.
he got a little closer to me, and that's when i realised, he'd smelled of firewhisky. Wonder where he got that.
and then he asked something even weirder than any thing that happened that night.
well-
barty
"oh, dunno. maaaybe who was your first... kiss?" i asked reg, even though i knew he hadn't had his yet. not like he couldn't have, if he wanted to. he absolutely could've. every girl in the castle had at least thought him beautiful.
he looked at me with his big grey eyes, which were full of anxiety and nervousness. i hated the fact that it was me making him feel anxious. i hated it.
"haven't had it. you know that." he breathed.
it was wrong, i knew it. my heart was pounding hard, i licked my lips.
"yeah?" i asked. fuck, this was so wrong. my dad would kill me.
he nodded, seemingly calm.
i came a little closer, and so did he. i did a bit closer than he did.
it was wrong.
i tilted my head to the left a bit.
so wrong.
and just like that, our lips collided. he slipped his tongue into my mouth, and i couldn't believe it was his first time. the star boy kissed like heaven. and he tasted like mint, and i couldn't get enough, so i put one hand in his hair and the other around his neck and i guess my hands were cold, because he let out a little noise, which made me want him more. I'd kissed tons of people before, but i think this was the only one where i actually cared for the person.
the kiss wasn't my best work, and i was afraid I'd fucked up his first kiss.
he, however, was wonderful.
"shit." i muttered when we were done.
regulus was shaking.
"what's wrong? w-was it not good? shit, sorry if I ruined your first time..."
"no, no, you-you didn't ruin it in the slightest. it was amazing, Barty."
that's just what I needed to hear.
"well, I'm glad."
