On This Day in History April 15, 1959: Future Hall of Famer Bob Gibson makes his Major League debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in a rather inauspicious manner. 

Gibson, who would be known for his dominance on the mound throughout his career, pitches 2-innings of relief against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gibson would give up two earned runs on two hits including a homerun to the first batter he faces, 3B Jim Baxes. Gibson would spend his rookie season going back and forth between AA Omaha, AAA Rochester and the Cardinals.
