if you know me you know i love the new batb, and i will now get choked up every time Maurice describes his deceased wife as “fearless” to his daughter in the opening scenes, because at first it seems like a generally generic way of describing the woman he loved, but then -- because they added the perfect amount of backstory -- you realize (after knowing Belle’s mother’s fate later on), she knew... ok, deep breath: she knew she would have to die a painful, miserable death all alone, and still immediately told her husband to go, to take their child and get as far away as possible in order to protect Belle, and that... is truly some “fearless” shit, I’ll tell you what. ugh.
