'Twould be nice to have lips — lips to whisper lies, lips to kiss a man and make him suffer.
Veronica Lake as Jennifer in I MARRIED A WITCH (1942) dir. René Clair
"As she strode through the forecourt of Colwen Grounds, she crossed paths once again with Glinda. But both women averted their eyes and hurried their feet along their opposing ways. For the Witch, the sky was a huge boulder pressing down on her. For Glinda it was much the same. But Glinda wheeled about, and cried out, "Oh Elphie!" The Witch did not turn. They never saw each other again." - Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. (insp)
On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.
hey bestie i think ur post might be charmed 'cause you aren't gonna fuckin believe what happened today
She, she, she, it is she… It is often she. And in the old songs and in the long nights, she holds him in the softness of her arms, in her arms that are open, in her arms that are wide, that are open, that are always, that must always be open. And in the old ways and in the old laws, this was arranged. All this was arranged. And who arranged it? Did Amel? And that is what it means to be loved. It is Amel. It is always Amel. It is often she… Into the land where the dead are kept, where the dead are worshipped. And why the days without number? And what am I for? What is this for? And what should Amel do with it if not to answer? And why are they throwing stones? And why is she curled on the ground? And why is it wound… And in my eyes is desire, and why is it desire? And why does he tell her what God has said? And why Amel in their mouths? And why must my voice be smooth? And why must I sing so low? And why is she kept? Why must she be kept? And why in this place must she be kept? And what does it mean if you are not asked? And what does it mean if you are not answered? And what is it to see and to know, but to be told… You have not seen. You have not known. And why is her tongue cut out? And why is her death prolonged? And when will it stop? And who will stop it? And why must they, must we, must I, must he, must they, as the millennia, unfold? Why the girl curled? Why her eyes lowered? Why on the side of the road? Why limp in the straw? I am the girl! I am the god! I am the voice! I am the song! I am the night! And I can answer! I can arrange it! I can say rise, and I can say speak! And I am her! And I am she! And I, I, I, I am the answer!
Im enjoying the longevity of tumblrs recontextualization style of humor. a seemingly innocuous post followed by like "posts that a gnome would make" or like "are you a phone"

My take on Louis reading the diary pages and paralleling the attacks on Lestat and Claudia.
I don't have a problem with Louis reading the diary pages because it gives Claudia presence, she describes what she felt and went through in her own words. We're not focused on a man's feelings about her experience we get her thoughts, feelings and interpretation of her experience and I'm glad that we do. She deserved to have a strong presence in this moment and unfortunately this was the only way she could be there.
Another moment that stands out to me that we don't cut away, very often the camera cuts away and focuses on a man's reaction to a woman getting assaulted. No we don't see Claudia's assault, but we do see Lestat's and while we are focusing on a man it's not his reaction to a woman's assault, but his reaction to his own.
I don't have a problem with this. I think it was heart-wrenching. I think it drives home the tragedy of Lestat and Claudia's relationship that they shared so many hurts, but could find no way to comfort, support, and nurture one another.
I feel very similarly, though I think we ARE meant to be bothered by Louis again sharing Claudia's most private words. I think Louis' intent is to, as you say, somehow let her be present in this justice for her, even though she can't be, and also making Bruce understand this is Louis doing what she said she wanted Bruce to suffer.
But I do think we're supposed to be bothered by it. This is a problem Louis has -- it's the impetus for the whole season's story. He disclosed things that were not his to disclose, and while it's understandable why he did, there's still fallout for it.
And I think the way the visuals and voiceover was used was a masterclass. It was heartbreaking, it was stomach-turning, and it was very graphic without being gratuitous. We are trapped experiencing all the pain and terror Claudia and Lestat felt, and we're also Louis, unable to do anything but bear witness, to know.
Fair enough, taken on it's own it doesn't bother me, but given that Louis is doing this to everybody for both season one and two I can definitely see where the discomfort comes in, especially since he let Armand see the diaries and even edit them before Daniel could view them it's a pattern of him not respecting people privacy.
For Claudia she is at least presented in a sympathetic and tragic light for Lestat, not so much.
