Lois Lane: boy/girlfriend is a superhero with a secret identity

I know that you probably meant demonfire but I’m going to be a tiny bit mean and pick the OTP that  first came to my mind when I read the prompt and that prompt is Terry/Dana. Sorry not really that sorry.

Dana took a sip from her smoothie, her sigh swallowed by her straw but evident in her body language. 

It was Terry. Again. Late. Again. Probably blowing her off. Again. Looking around the smoothie cafe, she could see other couples nestled into one side of booths or linking ankles under the table from her perch at the bar. It was Valentine’s Day and she was spending it waiting for Terry as usual. 

Her phone was hot in her hands–she’d been using it to check Terry’s twitter feed and his facebook, just to see if he was blatantly blowing her off this time. She’d never considered herself to be the jealous type, but a few months into dating Terry McGinnis and she was constantly looking over her shoulder to see if he was talking to other girls. Even seeing him smile and laugh with Max cut her deeply sometimes.

“Dana, I am so sorry.”

She slammed her phone on the counter, both out of anger and a mixture of fear and guilt that he would catch her on his twitter page, but that evaporated the moment she rotated the barstool to face him. 

A sad, droopy bouquet of flowers was in his hand, still wrapped from the shop with a rubber band around the stems. What caught her attention was the bruise blossoming on his lower jaw, the colors more vibrant than the flowers in his fist. 

“What happened to you?” She’d planned on shouting that at him angrily, but all she could muster was deep concern. 

“I was playing basketball with the guys when–well.” He gestured to his cheek with the flowers, petals fluttering to the ground. “I tried to get my mom to help me cover it up, but then I ran outta time and–I’m late and ruined Valentine’s Day for you.”

“You dork,” Dana sighed, rolling her eyes. She pulled him onto the barstool next to her and she pecked him on the cheek opposite of the bruise. “You didn’t ruin anything. I’m just glad you’re here”

“Me too,” he said, smiling, and his gaze dropped to the bar. “And I’ll pay for all three of the smoothies you got while you were waiting for me.”

“That’s a good start, McGinnis.”
