Ryan: What makes you think it's okay to watch Hannibal given its subject matter?
Sophie: Sometimes, I watch television shows for entertainment purposes.
Alice: Because I condone murder and cannibalism.
Five times + near death experiencesš
five times + wordĀ
The first time Bruce thinks Timothy Drake is deadĀ - he doesnāt actually think it. Because itās too close - itās too much - itās too harsh.Ā Itās only been a couple months since - since Jason - and Bruce doesnāt know what he did to get to Timās side, except that there are unconscious bodies littering the ground behind him, and the knuckles of his gloves are bloody. When he gets to Tim, he feels relief when he sees the youngerās chest moving, and then undeniable regret. Bruce picks him up, gently, taking him back to the manor. He doesnāt let Tim do anything but surveillance for the next month, and Tim getsĀ it. Alfred finds Bruce later on that night, and doesnāt comment on the fact that Bruceās hands refuse to stop shaking.Ā
The second time, Tim was simply patrolling - on his own, because Bruce had to attend some kind of function, and Alfredās voice crackled through his earpiece. Said something along the lines of Tim having trouble, and Bruce excuses himself, ignoring the chill that had replaced the blood in his veins. Alfred tells Bruce that Tim has stopped responding, and Bruce canāt thinkĀ - doesnāt quite remember what followed, what he didĀ - until he finds Tim at the docks, drenched and coughing up water. Bruce is at his side in a heartbeat, and Tim just smiles a little at the concern in Bruceās face, comments on the fact that their communicators needed to be waterproof. Bruce chokes back a laugh or a sob, and pulls the soaking boy to his chest, tells Tim that the earpiecesĀ areĀ waterproof.
The third time, Tim is shouting his name, shaking Bruce, voice alarmed and not quite registering. Heād hit his head pretty damn hard, and remembered the last thought heād had was to make sure that Tim was safe. Tim is babbling, and Bruce wonders, absently, when the last time the kid had slept. And then, Tim was hugging him, telling him heād thought heād lost Bruce - telling him that help was on the way and that he had a concussion, before Tim pulled away, and recounted the last details of the mission. And Bruce thought, even in the panic and concern still lacing Timās voice, informing Bruce, that he couldnāt lose this one. That he wouldnāt.Ā
The fourth time, Tim is bloody, unconscious, barely breathing, when Bruce takes him into his arms. He thinks that Tim is fired. Retired. Something. Anything but this, because whether or not Tim thought heĀ could do this - Bruce could not. He could not continue to do this. He refused to. Even when Timās injuries are tended to, and the kid is squinting at him from the bed, face puffy and voice hoarse, Bruce is still shaking. He tells Tim that heās fired, and Tim responds with a laugh. āYouāre not getting rid of me thatĀ easily, man. Youāre stuck with me. You need me.ā The worst part is that Tim is right.Ā
The fifth time, Bruce thinks theyāre both dead. The building crashes over them, and thereās soot everywhere. Thereās so much smoke that Bruce can barely breathe, and when he looks across the room from where heās pinned to the floor by a slab of concrete, he sees Timās immobile form. The sight is enough for Bruce to wrench himself from the debris, drag himself over to Timās side, and something crashes in the distance. Tim shifts slightly, letting out a groan, and Bruce lets himself collapse at the youngerās side, reaching out for Timās shoulder.Ā āIām okay, Iām okay,ā Tim is saying, before Bruce speaks, and Bruce watches the kid struggle to sit up, coughing. Tim finally looks over at Bruce, and itās not his teammate, his partner, that Bruce sees, looking at him. Itās his son. And Bruce hates himself for letting Tim become part of this. Hates himself that heād continue to let Tim be part of this. Later on, after Tim is sleeping, for once, drug induced, Bruce tells Alfred how much he loves the boy, and Alfred tells him that he already knew.Ā
Alice: You know what i've realized?
Ryan: That some thoughts are better unsaid?
Alice: Nice try, anyways-
Alice: I wanna be mysterious so bad but I just cannot shut the fuck up.
Alice: Look, you and I want the same thing. So it seems like weāre going to have to workā
Ryan: Near each other.
Alice: Don't you mean together?
Ryan: Don't make this harder then it already is.
Ryan: What's wrong with you?
Alice: I have this weird self esteem issue where I hate myself, but still think Iām better than everyone.
Alice: I learnt a very valuable lesson from all of this
Kate: Iām guessing they are all horrible distortions on the lessons you actually shouldāve taken away?
Alice: Death isn't real, and i'm basically god.
