The sounds of battle rang through the air, Magnus released orange streaks of magic at his attackers. Sebastian‘s followers had finally made their move. They had ambushed a patrol that Alec had been on. As soon as Magnus heard he portaled there to help his boyfriend. 

Magnus loved being a warlock, he loved the feeling of the energy and power in his hands. He threw a Circle member across the street. After Valentine had died, the remaining Circle members joined Sebastian and his demon army. 

A shax demon leaped at Magnus, he made it burst into flames with a blink of an eye. Suddenly, he heard a scream come from behind. It was Izzy, she had been tackled from behind by a demon. Magnus destroyed it instantly. As Izzy nodded at him with thanks, he felt a sharp pain in his hip. Instinctively, he put his hand to the wound and felt the blood gush between his fingers. He looked down to see an arrow sticking right through him. 

“Magnus!“ he heard Alec yell from a distance. 

Magnus kept going, there was no time to remove the arrow and heal it, that had to wait. He burned the archer that shot him, he fell to the ground, writhing. As Magnus turned to where the center of the battle was, Alec suddenly appeared in front of him, “Magnus! You’re hurt, you have to fall back!“

“I‘m okay, Alexander.“ It was true, in a way, the wound wasn’t lethal, nothing important had been punctured and the arrow was preventing a lot of blood loss. However, that didn’t cancel out the fact that he was in agony and his hip felt like it was on fire. 

Alec stepped in front of him, “I‘m not going to let you get hurt any more.” He released an arrow, killing three demons at one time. 

“I‘m not going anywhere.”

Alec sighed, “Fine but you’re staying behind me.”

Seeing that there was no point in arguing, Magnus nodded and shot more magic. The battle went on for another ten minutes before it was over. Alec immediately wrapped his arm around Magnus‘ shoulders and helped him down. 

Alec pulled out the arrow and held Magnus’ hand while he healed himself. Once the wound closed Alec gently grabbed his chin and pulled him into a kiss, “We make a great team.”

Magnus hummed in agreement as he brought their lips together again.

ok but, imagine battle malec with the alliance rune

magnus’ magic is probably strong enough to be able to detect people around him

and maybe his magic becomes a part of alec too

maybe he’s even able to share a part of his magic with alec too, and while alec himself can’t control the magic, magnus gets a sixth sense of how alec is doing, and instinctively supports him through it

so alec gets enhanced spatial awareness or some sort

and none of the circle members expected it, but alec knows when there are people trying to sneak up from behind him as well, and spins the arrow in his hand around to stab the guy in the face without having to look

and maybe if they happen to be far apart, each battling their swamp of enemies, his magic can still find its way past the mass of bodies to alec and set a guy who’s creeping a little too close to alec for magnus’ liking on fire

imagine them both cloaked in the pale blue hue of magnus’ protective magic

and imagine the colours of the battlefield, with the blueish-white glow from the seraph blades that the shadowhunters are wielding, clashing against each other

and the small red bolts of controlled offensive magic from magnus’ side

maybe even one single red glow of a seraph blade wielded by magnus himself

and the occasional rapid thin streams of blue magic finding its way to a wound and quickly patching it up 

basically what i’m saying is, battle malec, even stronger because of the alliance rune.

you give me the cutest domestic!malec and i raise you battle!malec this was the hardest fight they had ever faced in their lives. even the immortal warlocks, seelies and vampires who had gone through a lot weren't ready for this. valentine was ready to end this world and kill everyone who didn't want to follow him. the downworlders were all supposed to be die. when clary told them about the alliance rune, nobody believed her it could work. downworlders with runes? clearly they would die. but magnus and alec stood in front of her, their hands intertwined. "let's give it a go, biscuit," magnus told her and she gave him a shy smile. neither magnus nor alec have ever felt this way before. power spreading through their bodies. they were stronger than ever before. when other downworlders and shadowhunters realised it worked, they found a pair and waited for their runes to be drawn magnus and alec went into the battle. 

people around them were struggling and they knew they needed a miracle to win this fight. magnus started shooting magic from his fingers and he never missed a single shot, clearly alec's good aim was a thing magnus had got because of the rune alec was being attacked from every single side, he was trying to avoid it but it was impossible with every single blow in his direction. but as soon as he was wounded, magnus' healing magic was around him and he was all new. 

more pairs of downworlders and shadowhunters were showing up in a battle field. it took them a while and a lot of them were heavily wounded but they did it. they defeated valentine. magnus and alec were struggling with catching a breath, they were exhausted but they still could feel a faint connection because of the rune that helped them win.

"we did it, magnus," alec said and wrapped his arms around magnus. magnus only sighed and looked into the nephilim's eyes, a small smile on his lips. he didn't say anything, he didn't need to. alec cupped his face and kissed his forehead, grateful that they both survived to live another day. 

(okay that kinda went more into battle!malec direction and not soft boyfriends who give each other forehead kisses but oops haha)

BATTLE!MALEC YES PLEASE! I just wanna see them fight alongside each other because they will always have each other’s backs. And they can totally go from bamf to soft boyfriends in a matter of seconds so I totally approve of this. It’s wonderful to think of them being beautifully in love in the midst of the mess around them. :’)
