We take a look back at our well received game Battlepaths as a start.
The loot-centric and addictive 2D retro RPG has been on the stores for quite some time now and is still enjoyed by new fans of the genre each and every single day.
What makes it special?
It’s simple and straightforward. We wanted to deliver a basic turn-based item grinder with simple and solid mechanics that just work. There’s so many types of indie RPGs out there that desperately try to be special (with more or less success). So many that you can’t seem to find any that just delivers the good old basic Dungeon Crawler stuff.
Mechanics? What mechanics? Are there notable mechanics?
Indeed there are. Besides grinding your items of choice, you’ll have to keep an eye on your stats and think twice about how you develop your character when leveling up. It has a great impact on how your character plays and significantly influences your available options in combat.
How does combat work?
Combat is turn based and it’s tactical. You might not notice a need to make tactical decisions in the first few moments into the game, but you definitely will have to think thoroughly about your current situation at some point. Detailed combat information and more character related stats are easily accessible. If there’s is a problem with any types of enemies, there’s also a fix to it!
How hard is Battlepaths?
It starts easy and gets pretty hard over time. There’s fierce boss fights and insanely difficult challenges for those who just can’t get enough. Also, there is a hardcore mode. Keep in mind that the level of difficulty is heavily determined by the items you carry. If too weak, go grind! Like this guy:
