WE’VE BEEN HIGHKEY FLIRTING EVERY TIME WE CROSS PATHS DOWN BY THE BEACH THIS SUMMER, BUT I’M SUPER BUMMED BECAUSE IT’S THE LAST DAY OF VACATION AND I GO HOME TOMORROW. I DON’T KNOW IF WE’LL EVER SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN, BUT OMG I WANT TO ‘CAUSE WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME I MELT ON THE INSIDE. SO LET’S MEET UP TONIGHT AND MAKE ALL THESE CRAZY PROMISES ABOUT HOW WE’LL MAKE IT WORK EVEN THOUGH WE LIVE ON OPPOSITE ENDS OF THE MAP.
A beach plot can be a very lucrative investment due to many reasons. Such plots can be evaluated and sold to the highest bidder using a real estate consultant. Buyers should consider some important factors before purchasing a beach plot.
a) Muse A and friends rent a room at a beachfront hotel. It’s super convenient that said room is on the first floor because they can simply toss the beach umbrellas and chairs over the balcony rail after a long day of baking in the sun and sand. Muse A gets back to the room first and plays catcher as friends toss up items over the balcony rail, but they can’t account for their friends’ poor aim. When a frisbee sails over to the neighbor’s balcony, Muse A decides to climb over and retrieve it before anyone notices. Of course, as Muse A gets halfway over the rail, Muse B, the hottie next door, steps out onto their balcony and catches Muse A trespassing.
b) Muse A finally cashed in their adventure fund for the road trip they’ve been dying to take. After a few hours of cruising, they stop at the last gas station for several miles. As they’re heading to the register to pay for the fuel and snacks, they realize that they forgot the pump number and head to the glass door to peek outside. To Muse A’s shock, someone is stealing their car. Muse A runs out of the convenience store, but it’s too late to stop the thief from getting away. Muse A calls the police to make a report, but the nearest station is 3 hours away; there’s no telling how long it will take for an officer to arrive. Muse B, a truck driver, overhears Muse A’s story and kindly offers to give them a lift. Muse A isn’t sure about accepting a ride from a stranger, but Muse B seems nice and they really don’t want to hang around the gas station til nightfall.
c) Muse A and Muse B are best friends on a road trip for several weeks. The pair are faithfully following their favorite band on an 8 city tour culminating in an epic music festival at the end of the summer. Muse A, exhausted from a long leg of night driving takes a nap once Muse B gets behind the wheel. Unfortunately, out of the two, Muse A is the better navigator. Even with GPS, Muse B manages to miss a crucial exit. Rather than confess their mistake to Muse A right away, Muse B keeps driving, hoping the GPS will lead them back to the right path soon enough. With every mile Muse B drives, they get further and further away from the tour route and further out of range of the GPS satellite. By the time Muse A wakes from their nap, they’re pretty lost.
d) While on a trip overseas, Muse A can’t help but act like a typical tourist. They sign up for a sight seeing tour and whip out the fancy camera they brought along for this special occasion to take dozens of hi-res photos they can share on their blog later. Muse A accidentally bumps into Muse B, a fellow photographer, as they’re getting off the tour bus and their cameras mistakenly get swapped as they part ways. Muse A doesn’t notice that they have the wrong camera until they develop the film/check the thumbnails on computer. Muse A is appalled by what they see in the pictures-- graphic evidence of brutal crimes-- and starts to fear what will happen when Muse B realizes that they have their camera along with the incriminating photos on it; Muse B must get those photos back at any cost.
e) When Muse A is dared by a friend to dine and dash at a five-star restaurant while on vacation, risk-taking Muse A accepts. After ordering the most expensive dishes on the menu, including a thousand-dollar desert plate, Muse A smiles and politely collects the check when the waiter leaves it on the table. The bill is astronomical-- more than Muse A could afford even if they scrape 3 paychecks together. At this point, they really have no choice but to dine and dash even if they're having second thoughts. Muse A heads to the bathroom as their friend casually exits through the main doors. It takes some cat-like maneuvering, but Muse A slips out through the bathroom window and reunites with their friend to escape and bask in the incredible high of their wrongdoing. The following evening, Muse A is mingling with attractive Muse B at a bar near their hotel. Muse B offers to take Muse A to dinner the next night and to Muse A's surprise, it's the same restaurant that they dine and dashed .. and to make matters worse, Muse B is related to the restaurant's owner.
f) While vacationing in the Caribbean, newlyweds Muse A and Muse B sign up to take a half-day boat excursion to a private island with several other tourists. Being so in love and unable to keep their hands off one another, the amorous couple hatch a plan to sneak away from the group when the opportunity arises to do their own "sight-seeing". They discover a romantic, little cove about 2 miles from the shoreline and indulge, losing track of time. When Muse A and Muse B return to the coast, the tour boat is gone. Thinking they simply got turned around somewhere, the hopeful couple treks to the other end of the island in search of their tour boat but they can't find it or any sign of their fellow tourists or guide. They're stranded with nothing but the clothes on their back and the contents of their pockets until the next tour boat comes around.
g) In the year 2080, people are finally able to travel through space and time rather than just being limited to travel to a geographical location. Time travel is the best vacation money can buy and it's surprisingly inexpensive. There are restrictions, of course, that must be followed to ensure the integrity of the space-time continuum. A time traveler must learn the historical background, customs, manner of speaking and dress of the era before booking a trip; there is an exam to ensure such conditions are met. Most importantly, they must not interfere in the events of an era native's life in any significant way. Muse A time travels for the first time after passing their exam and is ready to explore. They meet Muse B, an era-native, almost right away, encountering them in trouble. Muse A knows that they aren't allowed to interfere, but they can't in good conscience turn a blind eye to someone in trouble.. because Muse A interferes, they are barred from returning to their present day. It's in the fine print of their time travel itinerary, which they failed to read.
h) Muse A and a handful of friends take a much-needed trip down to a popular beach destination once school is out for the summer. With stressful finals and assorted messy breakups to recover from, several days of partying on the resort grounds is just what the doctor ordered. Muse A and pals make a concerted effort to dedicate their vacation to the fine arts of drinking and debauchery. Muse A gets off to an early start of it when they meet Muse B on the beach. Since both parties are looking for a no-strings good time, no one bats an eye when the acquaintances head back to the hotel together. In the morning, Muse B quietly slips out to avoid any awkward lingering and Muse A is content with that minus the fact that they don't know how to contact Muse B to hang out again. Not too bummed about it however, Muse A moves on with their day and goes out with friends later on. Muse A's pleasantly surprised to encounter Muse B as they're walking to dinner and Muse A figures it's their chance to ask for a number. Muse B seems a little confused by Muse A's approach at first, but after several minutes of flirtatious banter, they give up the digits. When Muse A shows up at Muse B's hotel room door that night for drinks, Muse A is shocked to learn that Muse B has an identical twin (Muse C). Muse A isn't sure which twin they hooked up with, but they are sure that things have just gotten more interesting.

He had left his house again, much to his father's chagrin. He had barely been home for a few weeks and he was off to Massachusetts for what seemed like the millionth time this year. He had spent so much money traveling back and forth that his father had often aligned their schedules together. No one was at the Ampora household anymore; both men were off to separate occasions. Erin's father had left to attend a conference in the West Coast, hoping to find a location to expand his business and the company's reach, and Erin was off to Cape Cod. He had told Soll to meet him at the airport to save time -- his father complained of having no time to pick him up and Erin didn't feel like bickering.
At the airport, he had been stopped for a "random" inspection after activating the metal detector multiple times and taking off all of the various jewelry he religiously wore. Soll joked from the other side of the detector, laughing about Erin's blatant refusal to accept being treated in such a way. They had left his belongings a mess and, after giving the inspector a few words, Erin angrily moved on to the gate with Soll still chuckling behind him.
He checked his and Soll's tickets, trying to see where they both were before they actually boarded the plane. His father had generously bought both tickets but, most likely purposefully, he had placed them about 15 rows apart. What an asshole.
Upon boarding the plane, he was greeted by a small child yelling and his mom half-heartedly attempting to shush him. He turned the volume up until it had shut the kid's yelling out and waited for the plane to take off. He grunted a "goodbye" to Soll before dropping himself onto the navy airplane seat. Hoping that the seat next to him wasn't taken, he sent a quick text to Soll telling him to sneak over if he could. But, not long after, an elderly woman stopped and slowly lowered herself into the chair. Eventually, the attendants began showing procedure and the plane kicked into gear. He shut off his music and shifted in his seat, glancing at the elderly woman who had ended up being his sole company. She caught his eye and smiled, thinking he was listening to the music he had been blasting loudly before and had merely turned it down. He offered a weak smile back and pulled the earbuds from his ears. She complimented him on his appearance and how much like her grandson he looked; however cliche and trite that compliment had gotten and how surprised he was that he looked like every grandson that every grandmother had had ever, he still thanked her and awkwardly looked away to see that they were taking off. She asked him who he was travelling with and they sparked a short conversation before slowly dying out. The woman quickly fell asleep, leaning slightly on his shoulder and snoring just enough where he could hear her raspy, tired breaths. Soon enough, he had gotten sick of the atmosphere and had put the earbuds back to his ears and turning on his music again. He sent Soll another text but he didn't expect a response; after all, he probably left his phone off for the trip or he was busy doing whatever the hell he does on his computer. He lowered the ringer on his phone to vibrate and slipped it in his pocket.
What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone from me
Soft and sweet
Let me hold it close and keep it here with me, me
He put his head on the cold plastic of the plane and watched the wing of the plane and the clouds beneath it. Sighing. he reached down for his bag, watching her to make sure not to disturb his elderly friend. He pulled out his camera, a older Kodak that he had originally bought for his Photography classes. The last few months he hadn't bothered bringing it with him to Massachusetts -- it had been nothing to him but a foolish hobby. He knew there was nothing that had made taking photos "worth it" to him but it always cheered him up. He scrolled through the scenic pictures, some of the city and some of the outskirts of Chicago where his home was. He cringed at some of them, noting all of the mistakes he had made. He played with the settings a bit and shut off the flash, taking a quick picture of the sleeping woman to show Soll. It'd make a good story later or something.
And one day we will die
And our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea
But for now we are young
Let us lay in the sun
And count every beautiful thing we can see
Love to be
In the arms of all I'm keeping here with me, me
He turned the camera off, the beep from it causing the woman to shift. He held the camera close to his body and looked back to the wing, watching the flaps and slats move up and down. His eyes fluttered a bit, his body hoping to rest. He slowly closed his eyes, falling asleep to the quiet music coming from his lavender earbuds.
What a curious life we have found here tonight
There is music that sounds from the street
There are lights in the clouds
Anna's ghost all around
Hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me
Soft and sweet
How the notes all bend and reach above the trees, trees
~
He woke up to the sounds of shuffling and bags dropping as everyone quickly began filing out. Moving quickly, he put everything away and threw his bag over his shoulder. The woman wished him good luck on his trip and he returned the wish as she squeezed into the line and walked away. Once most of the crowd had gone through the aisle and out the plane, he waited for Soll and left with him. They ran to the baggage claim and waited for their bags. Soll's bag were just about first to show up; Erin tapped his foot impatiently as every passenger he recognized seemed to pass him and leave him waiting at the belt.
After what felt like a lifetime, his suitcase fell from the conveyor and onto the circular belt. He grabbed it and pushed Soll along, hoping to catch a taxi to the bus station immediately. He just wanted to sit down again -- he still hadn't gotten over flying yet.
Catching a taxi and telling the driver that they needed a ride to the bus station, he made himself comfortable for the ride. After so many trips, he had quickly learned of how bad Boston traffic could be. It was impossible to know how long the drive was and, after his phone lost so much power from being left on during his mile high nap, he couldn't listen to his music without losing his lifeline. He decided, much like on the plane, to go between rummaging through his bag, watching the cityscape and watching the boats on the water. He and Soll occasionally would talk about a passerby or joke about something but, after the traffic and the lack of movement began wearing on them, boredom took hold. Erin decided to risk the loss of power from his phone and just like always, he offered Soll an earbud.
Now how I remember you
How I would push my fingers through
Your mouth to make those muscles move
That made your voice so smooth and sweet
Now we keep where we don't know
All secrets sleep in winter clothes
With one you loved so long ago
Now he don't even know his name
~
The car soon came to a stop in front of the bus station and Erin shuffled out of it, grabbing his messenger bag as a last thought. The driver offered Erin his bag and he thanked him, handing him the money for the ride. Soll barked a complaint his way but Erin barely acknowledged it, telling him to pay for the bus ride. The man nodded and rushed back to his car, kicking it into gear to find his next customer. The ride should have been barely 15 minutes but it had taken almost an hour because of the traffic -- they just needed to get out of town to catch a direct bus to Cape Cod and they'd finally be able to be done. It was just about sunset and he was already about to fall asleep on the steps of the station. He meandered inside and waited as Soll purchased the bus tickets, guarding their belongings. They were directed to a very large bus but as they gave their luggage away and walked inside, it was eerily empty. They sat together in the back row, having enough room to sprawl out and get comfortable. The sun hid behind the trees as the bus growled and shook to life. The driver looked up and announced that it would be another 2 or 3 hours to Cape Cod before focusing back onto the road. It was going to be a long ride.
Time passed and Erin had plenty on his mind; he really didn't have much choice but to think. His cell phone needed to stay charged just in case he had to call Flis or Karl or something. He wasn't too concerned about that, really. He and Soll were pretty capable and they had the address -- they'll be able to get there. They wouldn't be there until almost midnight, though. Fashionably late, as usual.
Actually, that whole idea's bullshit. They'll probably be pissed.
In preparation for the trip, Dirryk pulled out his travel clothing. The outfit included his jacket, which had an unreasonably high collar, and his shades, which would keep most of the offending information hidden. Not everything was as easily altered though. The hat, some sort of large, wide-rimmed mess of a headpiece, sat incorrectly in place. The getup wouldn't fool anyone who was paying attention. Going to drastic lengths to try to alter difficult bits of appearance, however, would likely just draw more attention to the differences.
Dirryk planned to his keep head down in the event that the human authorities happened to stop the car, and feign sleep, keeping as little light off of himself as possible. Any discoloration that they would notice would likely be passed off as lighting in dim shadow, similarly to when he would meet customers at his doorstep to exchange occasional tech or cash.
He would wear the same ensemble at these meetings. The hat was by far the best part, alerting the customer of his intense intelligence in the mechatronic field.
It actually looked pretty fucking stupid, but he sported it like a pro all the same.
Though he wouldn't need to worry too much while in the car, as all other riders knew what he was. This included the driver. Dirryk wasn't sure how he felt about that particular bit of information.
After a brief hello and a mention of appreciation for the ride, Dirryk retreated back in the seat, listening to what the others spoke about on the ride up. He'd occasionally look up, eyes veiled behind shades, but the woman seemed intent on arriving to her destination as fast as possible. While she did ask the occasional question, her eyes never left the windshield. Fair enough, as driving over the speed limit requires a monumental amount of concentration and skill.
A stop was made to pick up Karl. As tempting as it was to try to get him worked up, so far the ride had been relatively quiet and interrupting that might invoke Kana's mother to ask more questions. Dirryk held his tongue and filed away anything particularly burn-worthy for later.
Once the car managed to actually stop to a halt from the crazy speed it was previously at, the three exited the car and stood in front of the door.
This post is actually quite long... so it's under a read more. Uhm..... just ignore the paranthesis.... it's just a lot of Roslyn going on stupid tangents.
Since hearing about the trip to Cape Cod Roslyn had been thinking about ways to actually head to her destination. It wasn’t like she didn’t like the idea. After all it would be a chance to see familiar faces and reunite with the trolls again. And if there was anything that Roslyn wanted it was that; she held dearly the people she had met during that and being separated from them after everything that had happened was difficult. Keeping hidden and still keeping in touch was hard and Roslyn was often frustrated that there was no way she could ascertain the safety of her fellow trolls but through flimsy social media. So getting to see them in the flesh was certainly welcomed.
Still, as much as she liked the idea it was getting there in the first place that was an ordeal. From her various google researches (To go on a tangent for a moment: Roslyn was really beginning to love the human research engine, it was quite useful! Then again there was always a wealth of information on the net, something Roslyn took advantage of, though mostly to research things such as “alien conspiracies” and “psychology” (human wizards were also a topic of interest, but one Roslyn would rather keep secret.) it seemed like Cape Cod, was not exactly in the vicinity, in fact it was in another country. While Roslyn had no qualms of purchasing a car (or “borrowing one”) it seemed unlikely that she could pass the border between the Us and Canada without some kind of identification.
So that left…….. well not very many legal options that’s what. For a moment Roslyn had felt like forgoing the trip, after all safety came first. Just because she wanted to see everyone didn’t mean she should compromise her fellow trolls safety for that.
However things turned up during one of her each endeavors on the web she had found a ship that was heading to Cape Cod. After making sure she could easily secure a return trip afterwards (it would be useless to go and then be unable to return home afterwards right?) she quickly reserved a room on the ship. (It was rather expensive, but it was a small price to pay for traveling safely.)
The trip on the boat had been more nerve-wracking then she had expected, keeping hidden but still eating and keeping hydrated wasn’t easy and being around so many people was terrifying. After having spent the better part of three years alone in a secluded house with only a catfish and a mutant cat for company it was rather difficult to get used to social interactions.
(She was getting one of her neighbours to house sit while she was away. While she had never actually the person in real life a short search and a few e-mails later she had found someone in the vicinity of her house that seemed…. Honest enough. If anything happened while she was away. She thought the monetary compensation would be enough to deter the person from doing too much damage to her property.)
At any rate after all three days of general discomfort and trying to be as discreet as possible she finally arrived at the port in Cape Cod. All that was left was traveling to the actual beach house a short cab ride later. (Unfortunately she couldn't exactly walk around wearing a hodded cape, though Roslyn would have rather liked that, at least she could somewhat escaped odd looks that way. But the excuse of "Oh I'm going to a costumed party between friends" was luckily more or less accpeted(The willingness for humans to accept something farfetched(like a costumed party in the middle of summer) over a simple truth(the existance of extraterrestrials.) was actually pretty fascinating.) though it certainly didn't stop the odd looks, it was better odd looks then admitting she was an alien.
It seemed a great many of the huamns were actually already there when she arrived. Which she supposed was normal considering they had less distance to travel, and could generally speaking get there without having to work around issue such as being a foreign species. Poised, albeit actually quite nervously she rang the doorbell to the house.
