Malina does not thinks she’s capable, or deserving of having a romantic partner.

Her attitude towards most people is usually disgruntled and negative, isolating herself to her hobbies even when some people are interested in them. She considers that just a way for people to get close for the wrong reasons. Doesn’t often if at all share her things, is an alcoholic and has a terrible habit of cleaning and tidying whatever she comes across. She’s very self aware of her personality and attitude.

The idea is nothing more than an unachievable fantasy to her, and if she doesn’t think she can achieve something, she doesn’t use the effort to get it. It’s part of her natural sense of greed. There is also the stigma of being a pure blood demon from Hell and all the culture that she was stuck in for several centuries. Sure she looks attractive (though she doesn’t quite believe it compared to literally most other demons her rank) but if it’s just physical attraction then she doesn’t care. She can get that anywhere.

Emotional attachments are forged or given. She cannot just take those things and she won’t stoop down to manipulation to get them. That is not how you earn affection. Stolen items have a habit of drawing unwanted attention to your collection and Malina hates that ever so much.

Now if someone gives her that of which she craves so willingly? Sounds fake. Not true. She looks for the falsehoods, rakes through every inflection and tone, every syllable to find some sense of deception. Demons use this all the time as a way to lower a guard of another for a backstabbing to follow.

Malina is an alcoholic where she has seven stages of drunk. Outside of the fact the alcohol does do beneficial things to her body, her love of booze is often off putting to many. Despite how lucid she is when she is drunk, her mood often swings heavily in one direction, making her look unstable. It started as a defense mechanism before turning into a coping mechanism, much like all of her habits. They were all some attempted pursuit of happiness.

Genuinely giving something to a demon of greed is... an experience. Giving a greed demon something they want without expecting anything in return, or hoping that said thing can be shared is grounds for a boon. Granting a being of avarice something they cannot obtain, to be shared or without expecting anything is a pact in itself, and Malina is no different.

You gain a very perceptive partner for life. The relationship is considered a valued treasure, an object to be protected at all costs. She gets defensive, protective, and admittedly, a bit possessive of the other person. Everything in a greed demon’s possession is theirs and nothing is taken from them. They would rather die before letting the possibility of that happen.

Instinctively, being part of the ‘collection’ in a sense means you get access to what that demon has possessed. That can be anywhere from material goods, to knowledge, or even personal secrets. Their guards are typically lowered and they are willing to be more vulnerable around you; even willing to share a few facts about themselves in terms of summoning them in other planar reaches.

You also gain their loyalty for as long as eternity keeps ticking, or until the bond is betrayed. Malina would never consider an individual an entity to be collected, but she does treat whomever has somehow earned her affection as an equal. Demons of her sort also push their partners personal drive for pursuing what makes them happy in life, so long as it does not conflict with them in any way. Malina is willing to lower herself a bit to put another on equal level with her, or lift them up so they can climb to her level.
