I fucking know right? Like my bro and I were the SAME exact way. He'd do something shitty and I'd try to defend myself and then I'D be the one to blame for us getting in trouble for some reason. Like, WTF is that about?

Not to sound cliche but it’s the patriarchy/internalized misogyny thing.  

Seriously, it’s the whole girls aren’t allowed to be loud/fight back situation. 

Like, the worst case for me of this was when my brother got really scary? My mom was at work and my dad worked nights (god forbid he get woken up early). So, I ended up locking myself in the bathroom and when I eventually tried coming out, my brother pushed me back in and I fell and cut my back on the radiator. My brother then proceeded to freak out in a different way and he begged me not to tell my mom what really happened. I, like an idiot, did what he asked and made something up. 

She eventually ended up grounding both of us, my brother for what happened and me for lying about it.

So I’ve been toying with an idea - I don’t know if it sounds as good outside of my head, so here we go. I trust you to tell me the truth.

In brief: a psychologically profound supernatural adventure series, told over five individual volumes, drawing from both modern and traditional mythology, covering the shared themes of a collective unconscious, Jungian psychology as typified by self versus Shadow archetype, and the interconnected natures of grief and loss.

There are several principle elements to the project as a concept, listed below:

There is one complete story, told in parallel narratives, spanning five volumes. The body of each volume must contain a complete narrative in itself, with no reliance on parallel works to inform or direct the story. However, each parallel narrative must fit thematically and conform to the central conflict, sharing one cast and setting across each installment.

Each volume begins and ends with identical bookend chapters - each novel shares, word for word, a beginning and ending. However, the significance of both varies by the reader’s knowledge of the characters and events covered in each parallel work. Thus, despite being identical in a technical sense, the implications of the bookends change with each reading.

Each novel contains both “real” and “dummy” characters - in each narrative, one character acts wildly out of character. this character is, for this volume of the narrative, the “dummy.” These “dummy” characters are one of several elements the reader needs to discover the “True Path”, and thus, the “True End.”

In each novel there are five “Keys” - an event or object that comes into play during the narrative that is again present in the epilogue bookend. These keys, once found, reveal to the reader which elements of the ending are “real” and which are not.

There is, hidden throughout each volume, one central “True Path” and one “True End”. The goal of the reader, from an analytic standpoint, would be to construct this hidden narrative from the clues present in the work as a whole.

Like everything I write, there will be Goetic demons, new world solutions to old world superstitions, and teenage girls named after Shakespearean characters. There will be a high school, and a hell. And as always, there's a bar named Kansas and a pineapple hidden on page three.
