So - regarding skin care and breakouts, one thing to remember that is really important…. but easy to forget, is frequency of washing sheets and pillow cases. It’s sooooo important! And can be kind of annoying, especially living in NYC. Like - it could ruin your day, big hassle, laundromat - nope! But seriously folks, it could save your skin.
Here’s the thing - even if we are super diligent about showering, and washing our face before bed - bacteria and other buildup is still going to happen in our beds, and on our pillows. This is because our body uses sleep time to detox…. have you ever noticed bad breath in the morning, or little sleep eye thingies stuck in the corner of your eyes.. or body odor after just… sleeping? Yeah! Our body is restoring and purging toxins and that stuff is like - coming out of our bodies and into our beds. Lovely, I know.
So wash em’ frequently…like every week people. And if you can’t wash as frequently as you’d like, have two sets of sheets, and lots of extra pillow cases so you can switch them out until you HAVE to wash them. All.
You can also make your own pillow case spray. It’s easy and fun and customizable. And it can actually improve your skin: One part water, one part vodka, 10-20 drops of your favorite essential oils. I would recommend tea tree oil, lavender oil, rose water if you want, freakin’…. orange blossom. It’s up to you! Put all of this in a cute little spray bottle and… that’s all. You just shake it up and then you’re done. Spray it on your pillows and sheets when you’re making the bed.
