I am quite proud of this stitching line.
I wish they all looked this nice, but in the end they won't even be seen. I will just enjoy the pretty ones while I can.

Slowly working my way through my partial Ice Cream Soda blocks, with just a few left to make!
today in quilt group I brought all my bee fabrics that I kept collecting and never using and worked out a pattern to do them with. I think it's called a variation of the rail fence block. Very bricky shaped, pleasant optical illusion-y
It's also a type of block that you can do in strips, which is a method I enjoy doing because it simplifies things greatly. So I cut out all the strips today and next week I will be sewing them together
these are my fabrics, the six yellow fabrics I had plus the one blue one, and also a few squares cut from another fabric one of the other quilters found for me.
Each strip section is going to be one 3" wide yellow sandwiched between two 1.5" wide blue strips, and then those will be cut into 5" squares.
Half of these will be turned sideways, and they will then be assembled into a brick pattern. The original pattern I was looking at said to do 12 × 14 blocks (168 total), and then a wide border I didn't much care for, so instead I'm doing a larger portion of blocks and a narrower border. Haven't quite decided yet between 14 × 16 (224) and 13 × 17 (221). Pictured above is 13 × 17.
The strips I have cut out currently will give me 40 blocks in five of the yellows, and 20 in the last one, of which I had much less. I was thinking that I could add a couple blue squares from the new fabric, probably at the corners and potentially in the center. I've currently got five squares cut out, and I think there's enough left for at least four more. Will need to double check that.
I haven't planned how I'm going to lay out all the yellows just yet. Figured I'd make a bunch of blocks and then spread them out randomly and see what I think.
I also need to decide what I'm going to use as the final border. My first thought is the blue, but I'm not sure I have enough of it, actually, and will need to check. I definitely do have enough of the solid yellow, and am strongly considering it as a contender. Actually I'm pretty sure I definitely have enough of everything except the large hexagons, the new blue, and possibly the main blue. (it’s literally half the quilt, I'm not surprised I'm using most of it up!)
Gotta pick out a backing and baste it up but I finally finished my bee quilt top!
hi! i really love your bee quilt, and was wondering if you ever finished it or have pictures of the progress??
Hi, thank you! Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to work on it, every few months I’ll pull it out and assemble some more hexies or cut some fabric. It’s currently 18” across, and at this rate it’ll be several years until I get it done.
I don’t have very many pictures from the process so far, although I did make this rudimentary sketch a bit ago about how I may want to it to come together. I want to incorporate some appliqué bees, but I’m still thinking how they’ll look.
This little naturally dyed wall hanging is now available
I keep forgetting to post this. I got the first row done on my EPP quilt before my neuropathy got too bad. We'll see if I can get this figured out so I can hand sew again and finish this bad boy!
The rightmost third of my Ice Cream Soda quilt is finally all in one big chunk!
There's still a few small pieces to add around the edges to square off this side, but those will join together really quickly!
I also have a bit of basting to pick out where the three chunks of this side were pieced together, but since it's way too hot to press those seams today, that will get done another time!
