Progress on my pride quilt :)
It’s been a bit slow going because of the move but I’m nearly halfway through it as of now and all of my 64 patches are ready to assemble for the second half. I can’t wait to do a full write up about the process with this one because it’s meant a lot to me despite some of its imperfections
It’s finished!!!!!!!!
Happy pride month everyone 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵
Happy Trans Day of Visibility!!!!!
We have always been and will always be here 🏳️⚧️
There's something really poignant about this. The different shades from square to square make it look like pixelated images you can't quite make out, like a suggestion of memories under the colors. Gorgeous.
!!!! Thank you so much for this!!!! That’s honestly a big part of the vibe I wanted to come from it so seeing it resonate with someone else makes my heart swell.
The fabrics were sourced both from my own stash and the stash of my grandmother who I lost at the start of the making of it. She taught me how to sew and made clothes and quilts for me and my sister growing up, but I never really got to come out to her as trans and I never got to show her my own works. Some of the fabrics like the strawberry shortcake and buttons in the pink bands were from dresses she made me when I was little, while a lot of the blues were from button down shirts I’ve made for myself.
I think a lot about the Julian K Jarboe quote “god blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason god made wheat but not bread and fruit but not wine, so that humanity might share in the act of creation.” Im no longer religious, but i grew up in a southern Baptist church so the journey of realization and creation of myself has been a long road and I think in a way the squares represent the moments along the way. Stepping back and seeing where I’ve come from makes it feel like looking back on a dream sometimes, and I wanted it to capture that feeling.
"if you take testosterone youll look like your DAD!! DO YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE YOUR DAD?!! YOULL LOOK LIKE A GROSS UGLY MAN YOULL LOOK LIKE YOUR DAD!" nope! adopted💖

My sister took more photos of my dress. I am very happy with how this turned out :)))))

Brought this beauty home yesterday! Only $20 and the table is in fantastic condition!
And she works!!!!!
I didn’t notice the hinge on the front until now. Reading the note made me feel so heartbroken that it ended up in an antique shop, but I’m so thankful it’s going to keep sewing. I hope the person who wrote it appreciates that at least. They even wrote notes on the replacement bulb packaging to help whoever needed to replace it next, but it seems like those were ignored because the guy at the shop just said it didn’t work.
It runs smoothly, just a little loud. Following the reminder to twist the bulb, I was able to get it installed properly as well. The table is in incredible condition, along with the paint on the machine itself. Someone even added felt pads where the table closes on itself to dampen the impact.
When I was looking into the machine’s model info, it seems to have been manufactured in the mid to late 1930s/early 1940s at the latest.
There’s so much love and devotion and history here. I wish I could say thank you to the people who maintained her over the years before she came to me.
