CONCEPT OF BUSINESS

All occupation require a person to be busy but what really matters for a proper understanding of business is what keeps him busy. The literal meaning of business is "Being Busy".

The village farmer who tills his land and sells his produce, the village shoe-maker who makes shoes to order, the various kinds of shops in market; in the rural and urban areas, the restaurants that cater to the needs of different classes of population, the banks, insurance companies, transporters, cold storage companies, PVRs, beauty parlors, boutiques , malls are some example of Business firms familiar to us.

This is what being busy looks like. 🤯 No space. No margins in life. It's not glamorous. It's time to delete some old belief systems around being busy. ❌being busy does not mean success ❌being busy does not mean happy ❌being busy does not make one more worthy I have found the times I am busiest is the times I am the most stressed. For me, being busy has served many functions. - to distract myself when I'm upset or disturbed - to avoid emotional pain - to make myself feel enough Many of us have realized (because of the pandemic and being forced to slow down), just how much we were pushing ourselves. I know for myself. I hate being busy now. Yet the habit of piling things on is still there. I am working on it. I have to be aware of it. And when I'm triggered I notice I get into workaholic tendencies... then I know I have to pull back. Because when I'm busy, to be brutally honest. I don't enjoy life. I don't get the time to really engage with people, I rush through projects, I even forget what I did that day... If someone tells me they're busy for me it's equal to telling me that they don't want to talk with me. Being busy isn't a reason to cut off. If you want something- you find a way, if you don't- you find an excuse.

I'm Not Busy!!

It is such a pet peeve of mine when people talk about how busy they are. Everyone is busy!! Do you really think you are busier than anyone else you talk to about it? It's all relative, so please stop.

You have time for anything you make time for! I love when people say, "I didn't call because I know how busy you are." I don't think anyone knows my schedule well enough to make that presumption. If I am actually unavailable when you call, I won't answer but I will most likely call you back. It might be a week later, but mainly because I forgot that you called. Not because I didn't have a free moment for seven days straight lol :)

I've been reflecting on the social experiment I did unknowingly over the past year or two. I literally have not been busy, purposefully! And in comparison to the previous 10 years... I'm older now, friends are further away and busy themselves, I've been nesting (ew), but I still haven't turned down many invitations... I just haven't had two jobs like normal. Yet, people still said "you're so busy" despite me correcting them with "I'm really not." Its really hard to break that reputation (or any really).

But I've officially been bored for the first time in 20 years. It was nice to relax for a while but that's just not my nature. So I'm *relatively* busy again and I love it!! But please don't not call me, because I'll probably make time for you.
