When I started shipping them: 1 month ago. when that GODDAMNED fic tilted my world a lot and i died

My thoughts: at that moment? it was holy shit. then i went to search for fic and it became FUCK MY LIFE. but i truly, truly love this ship SO MUCH. it’s one of the ships i will have a never dying love for despite the fact it is a pool noodle ship in the big wide ocean. but i can’t stop. won’t stop.

What makes me happy about them: aggressive reuenthal vs emotional brick wall yang! but really. yang finally having someone who understands him on all levels and reuenthal having someone he can trust. (reuenthal is considered one of the best strategists in the series :0 and he’s politically inclined as well and even though yang hates everything, he’s also switched on in regards to that. i feel like they would be able to help shoulder each others burdens a little! sharing is caring after all~~~) gosh i headcanon so hard that reuenthal is the petty jealous type because I REALLY LIKE PETTY JEALOUSY FOR SOME REASON. 

What makes me sad about them: CANON. like. they never meet in canon. but i believe in the novel there’s a line somewhere about yang and reuenthal being born in the same year and then dying in the same year? but honestly, i think if they ever met, yang and reuenthal would actually. get along great? yang has a lot of not-so-underrated sass and reuenthal seems like the type to understand and appreciate yang’s particular brand of sass <3

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: that there’s not enough (any) fic??????? fandom pls help me. 

Things I look for in fanfic: um. for it to exist? ;w; but i would DIE for a long, slow burn fic :D

My wishlist: like i said above, LONG!FIC. SLOW BURN. MUTUAL PINING. PROTECTIVE!REUENTHAL. 

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: reuenthal/happiness & yang/schonkopf XD cos look. reu deserves to be happy okay (even though he’s a massive dick) and yang gets his knight. we’re all good.

My happily ever after for them: where they get a chance to meet and reuenthal learns to be less of an arrogant prick and rely on people more and yang gets his wish to retire young and they get a house somewhere far from the war and live together happily ;w;

How I feel about this character: MUST PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS. no but seriously i never expected to like him as much as i do. oh my god i weep for what happens and i’m legit never going to finish watching the ova or reading the novels because i will be a friggen wreck and a half!!!!

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Hmmmmmm lemme see. THIS IS A REAL HARD QUESTION GUYS. i had to think REAL HARD ON THIS ONE. i had to meditate beneath a waterfall and cleanse my mind for six days on top of uluru and it was then that the answer came to me. no but seriously if you’ve talked to me ever in the last month you’d know my biases is reuyang followed by schonyang <3

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: 13th fleet and yang. also rosen ritter & yang. i love their interactions. they’re all precious to me <3 i’m not sure how much yang and the rosen ritter interact but gosh, headcanon - rosen ritter follow schonkopf pretty much where ever. and schonkopf follows yang. therefore the rosen ritter end up dubiously following yang, and then they get to know him and discover that he is pure TM and MUST BE PROTECTED and the mental image of a whole bunch of big buff guys hovering at the edges of smol, tiny yang’s vicinity whenever schonkopf has to go do actual work never ceases to amuse the shit out of me.

My unpopular opinion about this character: he should’ve gone ahead and listened to schonkopf and SEIZED POWER (wait is this even an unpopular opinion?????????????)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: THAT HE ENDED UP LIVING. OH MY GOD WHY. like. i have a burning need for fics where schonkopf insists on coming with him and yang lives. or like. he never goes and he lives. i just. pls just let him live ;w;

Favorite friendship for this character: the pairing aside, i’m huge on schonkopf and yang friendship, i feel like it in schonkopf yang gets a confidant that he deserves :3

My crossover ship: has anyone here played samurai warriors (koei) because mouri motonari/yang wenli would be hysterical. motonari is like. an alternate version of yang - a genius strategist who really would just prefer to be a historian. and in the game series he actually fakes his own death to do study history and force his grandson to take over his head of family duties lmaooooo. (yang could learn a lesson or two).

freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose by synecdochic (Stargate Atlantis | Sheppard/McKay | Rating: G | warning: major character death | alternate link) This story haunted me for days, okay, and even now I still get pangs of BITTERSWEET SADNESS when I'm reminded of little details from it. Never have I seen love portrayed in quite this way: mortal and fragile and exquisitely enduring.

A Long Winter by dropdeaddream and WhatAreFears (Marvel Cinematic Universe | Steve/Peggy, Steve/Bucky | Rating: PG) Fairly new but I can already tell this one will stick with me. I HAVE TEARED UP AT RANDOM TIMES OF THE DAY UPON REMEMBERING CERTAIN LINES. Great exploration of a bisexual Steve and American socio-political movements in the 20th century.

Drastically Redefining Protocol by rageprufrock (BBC Merlin | Arthur/Merlin | Rating: NC-17) This fic was one of the first epic mixed-media works I remember reading, and totally blew my mind in the way it fitted the characters into the modern world.

A Matter of Time by demotu (Torchwood | Jack/Ianto | Rating: NC-17) One of the first sci-fi adventure epics I remember reading, and probably the story that made me realize that the scope of fanfic need not be limited by that of the source canon.

While the Ring went South.... by Thundera Tiger (The Lord of the Rings | Legolas & Gimli friendship | Rating: PG) One of the very first fanfics I ever read, and it set the precedent for my love of team-building and action plots and enemies-to-friends character development. I first read this on FF.Net, that's how long ago it was.

16:1 by rcmclachlan (Queer as Folk US | Brian/Justin | Rating: M) It was a close call between this and Oneiroi (Supernatural | Dean/Castiel | Rating: M) yes I'm cheating by linking it anyway but went with this because it was formative when I was just starting out at this writing shinding. rcmclachlan has such a way with words, wherein she sears her fantastical imagery right into my brain, it's glorious. Also WHOA RC IT'S BEEN ALMOST TEN YEARS SINCE THOSE DAYS CAN YOU BELIEVE IT.

So Wise We Grow by deastar (Star Trek | Kirk/Spock | Rating: M) Another weakness of mine: kidfic! There's also something really sweet and sincere about the way Kirk and Spock came together here, and how earnestly they wanted to do right by their unexpected child. :: Cheating again, but another great fic by the same author is How Many Roads? or, 27 Times James Kirk Hit On Nyota Uhuru (Star Trek | Kirk & Uhura friendship | Rating: G) THIS ONE MADE ME WEEP OK.

Somewhere Back of the Sun 'verse by enigmaticblue (Supernatural | Dean/Castiel | Rating: G to NC-17) This has long been my go-to comfort fic. The familial themes and post-apocalyptic setting are good reminders to treasure even the most basic things in life. I think this fic captures all the good parts of SPN without the extraneous drama and ridiculous posturing.

Seems So Easy For Everybody Else by etothepii (Sherlock BBC | Sherlock-centric pre-series | Rating: PG-13) I love etothepii's work unequivocally, and this one in particular stayed with me because of its brilliant portrayal of a transgender Sherlock, and his journey in claiming his identity, including a complicated relationship with Mycroft.

Hveðrungr's Children by manic_intent (The Hobbit | Thorin/Fili/Kili | Rating: NC-17 | warning: incest) One of my favorite aspects of fanfic is when the author expands and elaborates on less-known parts of the canon universe. It also did not hurt that manic-intent shares my love of Dwarven culture as depicted in Terry Pratchett's Discworld :D

As you might have noticed, I ended up choosing one for each fandom (let's take LOTR and The Hobbit as different fandoms), and it made me realize, damn I have gone through a lot of fandoms. I had to leave out SO MANY, the Marvel Cinematic Universe alone has like 5 sub-fandoms.
