UNTITLED. Very few people know that it’s been 3 years since I’ve been on the streets and in the shelters of San Francisco. It’s crazy how it’s taken me this long to release some of my work that came from it. I’m not ashamed of my past, it’s simply an immutable fact. It happened. However, everyone who knows, is aware that it was the most freeing time in my life. It taught me to stand up for myself and advocate for myself and others. It taught me community and affirmed my thoughts that the system is shit. Period. There’s so many politics where humans are involved it’s dizzying. This poem is a snippet of what I had to go through with the young adult shelter system there. To everyone I met in The Bay, I fkn LOVE YOU!!! 💚 To everyone else, feel free to ask me any questions.
