💖 What do you like most about your own writing?
I've been really critical of my writing lately, so this is hard question to answer! I think my answer to this, especially in my creative writing (since I write a lot both for my PhD and fic/writing projects, my brain lumps them into two categories), is my ability to weave back and forth between things happening in different characters' heads/inner monologues, and what's happening around them. I fuck heavily with third person omniscient POV so I can bop back and forth between characters to play with how they think, feel, and respond to one another in a single scene. It feels like tinkering to me, and a chance to get to know characters a bit better! (Honestly, it even helps me work myself out of a writing rut when I don't know how to transition or wrap something up.) Yay to writing feeling like play and all that
🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).
Been trying to pat myself on the back lately for HOW much writing I've been doing, especially since re-entering fandom. I've talked to some folks about this, but in middle school and early high school, I wrote CONSTANTLY. Wanted to be the next Tolkien/Le Guin/Austen/etc. But depression and other complex mental health shit took the joy out of it for me, and I lost all interest. Starting my doctorate and getting back into fic writing is what really propelled me into loving it as a creative practice again. So yeah, I guess I'm proud of how much of it I've been doing since August, and the growth I've felt/seen in my writing since then.
🍰 Name one of your fave comfort fics (doesn’t have to be your all time fave).
SUCH A HARD QUESTION OH MY FUCK. One I've been going back to a lot lately is Cranefoot by ada frogg (anomieow). It's short and sweet, it leans dark and mysterious (CNC CW), and it's Goodcollins, so how could I not, ya know? It also made me feel a bit braver, and inspired me to work with some of the prompts I've been working with for kinktober :)
ty again for this hemoooooooooo xoxoxoxoxo
