Last night I came to the realization that if I were a fantastical creature I'd be a gargoyle. Always sitting or lying down, observing things but never interacting, sleeping for tremendous amounts of time, getting angry and scary when disturbed

Memes for Jex Lane’s Beautiful Monsters series Pt 1
Strap in kids, I wanna talk about Beautiful Monsters.
A series by a friend of a friend, Beautiful Monsters (affectionately called BeMos) is the story of the a vampire/incubus war set in modern times. And the vampires are not doing well. Our story starts following a vampire, Matthew, as he is caught in what is called a "thump trap" by none other than the Lord General of the incubus forces, Tarrick. Instead of killing Matthew, Tarrick captures him and it is revealed that Matthew is much more than he seemed to be at first glance.
A M/M smutty story with elements of BDSM and intrigue, Matthew finds himself fighting to find a place in a world he doesn't feel like the belongs to. Held prisoner by the general and made to kill other vampires, Matthew must make a stand if he is to reclaim his freedom.
BeMos is written by Jex Lane, and its obvious Jex loves her characters, as I quickly fell in love with them too. Tarrick is actually my favorite character and a huge inspiration behind the real reason I made this post-
Esiviel.
I don't know what came first in the rewriting of BRP- me seeing pieces of Esiviel in Tarrick or the other way around but I giggle at the similarities.
Esiviel is a "worked his way from the bottom" type of character who is now captain of the royal guard, mate to the queen, and is generally well respected within the community. He's a workaholic, no nonsense when it comes to his job, is genuinely compassionate to those who are lucky enough to see that side of him. Charming in a crowd of people, he commands a level of respect few can deny.
But Esiviel is gentler than the general. He isn't touched by the heavy weight of grief and crushing failure that Tarrick is. He hasn't made those mistakes so he's not as careful.
And just
Ajfifbndisjs. Screaming into the void here but
I CAN SEE PIECES OF THEM IN EACH OTHER AND IT JUST MAKES ME SCREAM INTO MY PILLOW.
Mainly because both make me feel things and I love seeing similar writing in actual, published, popular writing.
