Anyways I’ll probably dissect that in a separate post, but I just want to point one more thing out. The only two songs with lyrics are at the beginning and end of Jim’s character arc. I’m Still Here (Jim’s THEME) and Always Know Where You Are. Both of these song titles alone sound like they are referring to a more physical ‘here.’ I think it’s more of a mental ‘here.’ Again, I’ll dissect that in a different post but this time it’s for notes.
Hi, remember when I said that? Me neither, here we go. This is gonna be all over the place... this is so out of order.
So I looked at the Always Know Where You are lyrics. Only ever heard the beginning but now that I think about it. I think it’s actually referring to Silver and Sara (his mom) based on a visual queue but mostly things I picked up in the lyrics. The “you” is referring to Silver. The place in “this place” is most definitely Montresser and the Benbow.
“To give you back the things they took from you” That’s the pirates burning down the Benbow and Jim’s dad causing him to be distant from his mom. A lot of this song is just Jim finally realizing he found himself, he’s healed, and he’s happy.
“Now I'm forever far away, and I
I always through I'd end up here alone” He’s far away from who he used to be, constantly in trouble, failing in school, ect. I’m pretty sure Jim thought it was going to take longer to mentally heal from his (jackass) dad dipping, and take longer for him to fix himself.
“And when I see myself
I'll always know where you are” A part of Silver lives on with Jim. He always knows that Silver will have an effect on him. Even if he never sees him again. People have an effect on your life, no matter how short of a time they were in it. A few seconds with someone can change your entire self.
This is a bit low effort, I’m sorta blanking and I know I left stuff out. But hey, content is content.
