Being yeomans, they naturally always got the short end of the stick, but that day had seemed unnaturally long for the both of them. Sitting at a vacant table in the mess at the end of their shift, Tamura didn’t even notice that Janice was beginning to doze off— at least, not until she felt a sudden weight on her shoulder.

She halted in eating her lunch for a moment, looking at the blond with a quizzical look, then sighed, deciding it wouldn’t hurt to let her sleep while Tamura finished her meal.

"They're rule in you favor, John. I know they will," she said, wiping a tear away from the crook of her eye. She did her utmost to keep up a smile for him, but he looked well enough like he wouldn't have been convinced by it anyway. 

"I'm sure they will," he said, and she knew without even having to look at him that these were false words. He spared her a kiss on her cheek for her trouble, and she hated him for being so polite when it was his life that was on the line. "It's just a matter of procedure, I'm sure."

For his part, Harrison was right about it being an instance of precedent. They were both of them wrong, however, in thinking that the Romulans wouldn't take offense to him being declared innocent of the defensive and somewhat accidental killing of one of their best generals. While Harrison had left the hearing with his parole untarnished, he had not managed to leave it with his heart. A Romulan assassin, disguised as a Vulcan representative, had made him hold it after making open work of him with a ceremonial blade. And even for an augment, that was not a wound that could be survived.

She never walked the halls of the Enterprise the same - thinking of his bloody, penitent hands every time she expected to see him in the corridor, and of the kiss he'd given her that day.

Send “Tap” for my character’s reaction to yours tapping on their bedroom window late at night.

Leonard was more than a little confused when he heard tapping at his bedroom window. Mainly because he lived in an apartment building, on the third floor. But also because tapping meant that someone was outside of his window. And that in itself was pretty damn strange.

Stepping closer to the window, he frowned, immediately putting on his "quiet but shouty" voice.

"Janice? What the hell do you think you're doing? That ledge is like three inches big, get in here."

They're fun to eat and even more fun to share.  What makes you a good Valentine?: You know that I know how to take care of you, that I appreciate and respect you, and your committed relationship with the Enterprise doesn't offend me as myself and the rest of the crew are  involved with her as well.  Would you cook for me?: I would. [There's an awkward pause. Jim swallows, sucks self-consciously on his bottom lip. In another universe, he'd once given a whole speech to Spock about how he wasn't allowed to notice whether or not his Yeoman was attractive. That hardly changed here. A captain and a yeoman? He'd be thrown from Starfleet faster than he could say 'it was consensual.'

She is attractive. He's noticed, it's impossible not to. It's also indefinitely not worth the risk to his career.]

"Commander," she said in surprise, looking up from her PADD as the other man entered the botany lab. Sulu had asked her to keep an eye on Beauregard while he stepped out to get lunch, and she'd thought to read up on what species they'd been cataloging on the new planets.

What she hadn't thought of, however, was that lunch for herself was probably a wise idea. But Harrison seemed to have anticipated that, in his strange ways deemed it fit to bring her some of chef's cornbread and chili con carne. He had, however, also failed to bring some for himself.

"Yeoman," he replied, setting down the tray for her and settling into the seat opposite. He breathed in deeply, and looked around at the various plants growing in the lab. "I thought you might want some of the chili before it all disappeared."

Taking up her spoon, she smiled at him. "Always did love chef's chili," she agreed. "Didn't you grab any?"

The man only shrugged. "Wasn't terribly hungry," he answered absently, standing again and wandering over to Beauregard. The bright pink plant perked at his presence, and the petaled face opened jovially for him. "Is this Beauregard?" he asked, and she smiled.

"You must have run into Sulu in the mess hall," she said. Harrison nodded, peering curiously at the responsive plant. "That's him alright. Our resident personality. He seems to like you."

Harrison was halfway through a hum when the plant stretched up, it's pink petals brushing against his nose. It sent the man reeling back almost, but he seemed to comport himself in time to not offend the plant. Standing, she walked to stand next to him, nibbling at the piece of cornbread he'd brought.

"Yes," he said with a grin. "I can see that."

Standing up on her toes, she pecked him on the nose too before returning to the table. "Yeah, well that makes two of us," she said, and before she could even turn and smile at him he was already smiling back at her.
