I am also still open to answering and and all questions about Bettas and such to the best of my ability.

I'm in the process of getting to move cross country, and once I get settled well enough into my own place, I am going to be looking into getting another Betta fish. I have an Amazon wishlist all set up for it, and will be getting a fish from a breeder this time around. I really want an orange Betta, or even a black crow tail. Those ones are definitely on my wish list right now.

Can someone give me some betta advice?

My boy Reginald is a dumbo half moon and his fins have been looking more “ratty” over time. I’ve had him for almost two years now, and his tail looks much stringier than when I first got him.

Here is when I first got him:

I’m worried that he’s fin biting, or maybe even has fin rot. What do you guys think?

Just in case it’s important, he’s in a 5.5 gallon tank with a heater, filter, hiding place, two plants, and a betta hammock. He’s housed with a large black mystery snail.

so I have a male betta who i’ve had for about a year and he will like. Not stop biting his tail. every time his tail gets long and beautiful he decides he hates it and he destroys it within a week. it’s never caused him any problems and he is still able to swim/eat/etc. so i’m assuming this is really just a cosmetic thing.

so I was wondering if there are any tips/tricks concerning fin biting? he’s in a 5 gallon tank and ideally I wouldn’t move him unless it’s really necessary. but i’m just wondering if anyone has figured out any way to get bettas to stop doing this. he REALLY likes people and whenever anyone is in the room with him he will swim around and i’ve never seen him bite himself then, so I assume he’s doing it when no one is around (maybe a boredom thing ?).

i’m pretty sure it is fin biting and not anything else so i’m really only looking for suggestions concerning that. thank you !

My roommates got a Betta fish, and the water's real cloudy and I'm not sure what to do. They also said this was a five gallon bowl and I don't think it is, it looks way too small. I'm starting to get worried for the little guy, am I just being paranoid or should I get him a better tank and stuff?

The problem is, I don't have a lot of money to spend for the little dude, so I just don't know what to do.

HE WAS FINE AN HOUR AGO

There a scale missing on the side of Bilbo’s had and I don’t know what could have happened?? He was fine like 2 hours ago when I fed him some bloodworms, tanks heated and filtered, no signs anything’s wrong?? Just a little pinkish mark where it looks like a scale fell off?? The filter flow is a bit high rn could it have knocked him into the rock?? One of the shrimp could have attacked him but thats extremely unlikely. I think the filter might have knocked him into the rock. Will he be ok?? Should I add anything?? Besides more water of course

QUESTION FOR MY FELLOW BETTA KEEPERS !!

i noticed that my lil guy chad has had a VERY noticable underbite compared to when i first got him, so i wanted to know if any of you have experienced this, and if it is healthy for him!

is this normal for bettas ?

he isn't able to close his mouth, but he is still able to eat perfectly fine ! should i be worried ?

Hey, people of fishblr!

I'm a new fish parent, recently got a betta and I'm loving having him around, but I'm wanting to upgrade his setup as there's a number of things with his current tank I'm not super happy with. It's a 3.5 gallon, heated and filtered but it's kind of a weird half moon shape that I think might be stressing the fish a bit? I'm also having a hard time figuring out how to get him enough plant cover without overly limiting his free space.

I feel dumb for going with a tank like that to begin with and I'm wanting to do better by him and get him a good ol rectangular tank.

Would it be better to go with a 5 or a 10 gallon? I'm not sure what size is really best for them and I'd like to not have to upgrade a third time right away if I can avoid it.

Also, somewhat unrelated but how long is normal to wait for them to eat after getting the fish? I gave him a good 8 hours after introducing him into the tank before offering food and he refused, and then tried again this morning and he's still not interested. Should I be worried yet?
