Okay!

Time for some Banana Fish headcanons before my brain short circuits from the overflow of incoming ideas.

Shorter was the one to teach Ash how to use chopsticks. Pretty sure we can all agree on that.

Now imagine how Shorter looks up from his own plate and sees this child, who is also a trained assassin that was this close to skewering that douche from the juvie with a flippin' billyard cue, across the table nearly poke out one of those green eyes of his in a desperate attempt of consuming some stir-fried noodles. A face so often ridden of any identifiable emotion is now scrunched up in an infantile frustration and confusion, because how dare this stupid stick disobey me, the master of all the weaponry, big and small? What the hell am I doing wrong?

Barely holding back an uninvited, but good-natured snicker (if only for Ash's dignity), Shorter bolts to his room and rampages through his drawers. Soon enough he re-emerges in the kitchen brandishing a pair of training chopsticks that he used, as a kid.

And while Ash is likely used to a punishing system for his failures of all sorts (table etiquette included), Shorter surprises him with his unconditional patience and encouragement, as he softly teaches him the proper way of utilizing the traditional Chinese utensils. There is no looking down on him, no mean words said, no incoming heavy blows. He is approached with nothing, but respect and profound wish to help. Even after this small mishup, he is still treated and regarded as an equal.

And it's not even a week later that Shorter proudly sees Ash politely decline the offered training chopsticks and determinedly go for the actual ones that he uses flawlessly to the very last grain of rice.

shorter’s a sneaker head. the boy loves shoes. he has way way WAY too many but he doesn’t care. has camped out at LEAST once for a new drop. the type to have a meltdown if he creases new jordans or af1’s. clowns ash on his dusty ass converse every single day.

his gas station order is a can of mango arizona, a slim jim, and a lil bag of sour keys

SHORTER HAS A TONGUE PIERCING!! also several different cartilidge piercings and small gauges on his earlobes

the first time he dyed his hair (cause we all know this man didn’t get that shit done at a salon) he stained the whole bathroom purple and nadia made him scrub everything clean with bleach and a toothbrush as punishment

despite him being a total goof, shorter’s actually a really good restaurant owner. he can cook, of course; but he’s also very good at customer service and maintaining order. like yeah, he’ll let his friends come in and fuck around, maybe give em some free food. but if he sees someone with their feet up on the table, they’re getting kicked out on their ass. yes, even if it’s ash. ESPECIALLY if it’s ash, actually.

all of his weirdly patterned and coloured clothing pieces are customs from underground (ACTUALLY underground, not just like.... supreme or golf) streetwear brands. 1) cause he’s cool like that and 2) cause no stores are just selling those atrocities ready made. king of supporting local businesses tho!!

he’s bisexual but i’m pretty sure we all already knew that and it’s lowkey canon. oh well, i’ll say it anyway. SHORTER WONG IS BISEXUAL!!
