What do you think of the voice acting in BFB? I personally think it's a mixed bag, some voice actors do a great job with their characters, like Satomi and Kenzie. But there are some things I just don't like, like how monotone Lollipop's voice is (it's very noticeable how off it feels in BFB 1 when she's talking to Eggy and Pillow) and how insufferably high pitched some voices are, like Bubble, Donut or Book.
Well, Anon, I personally never had an issue with the voice acting. On the contrary, I feel the voice acting is pretty top tier! Kenzie and Satomi do give some good voice acting lines (although I kind of always felt Black Hole was too monotone for my own personal tastes), the others do, too!
To use your example of Lollipop, in honor of this blog’s mascot, I’ll have to humbly disagree.
When it comes to character voice acting, you have to keep in mind the character’s personality. Lollipop has always had a pragmatic and forward approach. The so called “monotone” voice you say she has a) isn’t monotone (she shows some emotion here and there, like this:)
(And there’s more where that came from, too.)
and b) is inherently “matter-of-fact” and straight forward because that’s her personality. Her voice may come off as annoying to some, and that’s all fair because it’s your own tastes, but if you ask me, her voice matches perfectly with her character. It even makes her unique in a sense.
I, however, do agree that Donut is quite a bit high-pitched, sometimes not to my own liking. I don’t find myself annoyed by it, but I do agree that it can hurt my ears sometimes. ^^; Book doesn’t bug me (they tried to make it sound like her original voice since Micheal’s voice has gotten deeper) and neither does Bubble’s, but your opinions on that part are valid, Anon.
Again, the voice acting doesn’t bother me - the delivery and value they put into their work works well and they do a great job! Donut can be quite annoying sometimes to listen to, but even then, the VA does a great job making him so expressive. I would like to remind ya’ll that this shit isn’t easy, y’know? It takes a lot of work and takes, and if you see Cary’s videos on YouTube, it’s plain to see he puts a lot of work into what he does, as do the rest!
So, yes, it has its faults, but the voice acting doesn’t come off as bad to me.
