Happy Bhai Dooj Bhai Dooj, Bhaubeej, Bhai Tika, Bhai Phonta is a festival celebrated by Hindus on the second lunar day of Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar or of Shalivahan Shaka calendar month of Kartika. It is celebrated during the Diwali or Tihar festival and Holi festival. The celebrations of this day are similar to the festival of Raksha Bandhan. On this day, elder brothers give gifts to their younger sisters. In the southern part of the country, the day is celebrated as Yama Dwitiya. In the Kayastha community, two Bhai Doojs are celebrated. The more famous one comes on the second day after Diwali. But the lesser-known one is celebrated a day or two after Holi. In Haryana, a ritual also followed, a dry coconut (named gola in regional language) with klewa tied along its width for worshipping is also used at the time of doing aarti of a brother. ঘরে ঘরে যমুনারা আজ দিল ভাইফোঁটা

  নিজস্ব সংবাদদাতা ভাইফোঁটা যার পোশাকি নাম ‘ভ্রাতৃদ্বিতীয়া’। প্রতি বাংলা বছরের কার্তিক মাসের শুক্ল পক্ষের দ্বিতীয়া তিথিতে পালিত হয় এই দিনটি। ভাইয়ের মঙ্গল কামনায় তার কপালে ফোঁটা দেন বোন। তাই এই নামকরণ। এই ভাইফোঁটা সৃষ্টি নিয়ে প্রাচীন কাল থেকে অনেক গল্প ছড়িয়ে আছে। তবে সব কিছুর মধ্যে যেটা অন্যতম সেটি হল বেশ অদ্ভুত এক গল্পগাঁথা। মৃত্যুদূত যম ও যমুনা ছিলেন যমজ ভাইবোন। সূর্যের ঔরসে জন্ম হয় তাঁদের। বড় হওয়ার পর দুজনে আলাদা হয়ে যান। থাকতেন পরস্পর থেকে অনেক দূরে। লম্বা সময়ের ব্যবধানে যমুনার খুব ইচ্ছে হল ভাইকে একবার চোখের সামনে দেখতে। খবর পাঠালেন ভাই যমকে। বোনের নিমন্ত্রণে যমরাজ ছুটে এলেন, আসলে তিনিও বোনকে দেখতে ব্যগ্র ছিলেন মনে মনে। ভাইকে যথাসাধ্য আপ্যায়ন করলেন যমুনা। খুশি হয়ে ফেরার সময় আবার আসার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলেন যমরাজ। তখন খুশিতে ভাইকে আশীর্বাদ করে ফোঁটা দিলেন ভাইয়ের কপালে যমুনা। আর সেই থেকেই নাকি ভাইফোঁটার প্রচলন। আবার আরও একটি গল্প শোনা যায়, নরকাসুর নামের এক দৈত্যকে বধের পর কৃষ্ণ ফিরে এসেছেন বোন সুভদ্রার কাছে। তখন তাকে কপালে ফোঁটা দিয়ে মিষ্টি খেতে দেন সুভদ্রা। অনেকের মতে, ভাইফোঁটার শুরু এর মধ্য দিয়েই। যম-যমুনা বা কৃষ্ণ-সুভদ্রা যাদের কারণেই এই অনুষ্ঠান প্রচলিত হোক না কেন, আজও এই ভাইফোঁটা ঘরে ঘরে পালিত হয় অত্যন্ত ভালোবাসা এবং বন্ধনের দিন হিসাবে। ভাইকে ফুল তোলা আসনের ওপর বসিয়ে কাঁসা বা পিতলের থালায় ধান-দূর্বা, ঘরে আমপাতায় পারা কাজল, চন্দন সাজিয়ে নিয়ে আসে বোন। সঙ্গে থালা ভরা মিষ্টি। বোন চন্দনের ফোঁটা এঁকে দেয় ভাইয়ের কপালে আর বলে, ভাইয়ের কপালে দিলাম ফোঁটা যম দুয়ারে পড়ল কাঁটা যমুনা দেয় যমকে ফোঁটা আমি দিই আমার ভাইকে ফোঁটা
