And here is my second piece for the Bingqiu rmb! I really played a lot with the lighting on this one haha. It took a lottttt of fiddling but I finally ended up somewhere I’m really happy with.

Thoughts

I tried to use not just the pose and expressions, but also the light and the background to tell the story of "SQQ is guiding LBH out of his dark thoughts":

Binghe's surrounded by the dark furniture - I want to evoke "he's drowning in his feeling of worthlessness and SQQ is lifting his face "above water"

SQQ is haloed by light=goodness and he's transferring the light to Binghe's head where he's touching him (is it too obvious how unrealistic that light is and does that ruin the effect?)

Credit for SQQ's sheer robe goes to @softlystarstruck! I had no idea what he should wear. It was fun to draw - I first painted it as 1 layer and shaded it normally, and then made 5 copies at 50% opacity for every overlapping layer of fabric, erasing everywhere you can't see that layer.

My original prompt was "SQQ rewards Binghe for every good thing he can say about himself, the more important, the bigger the reward. Subdrop optional." Expecting nothing more than some fun smut, so I originally sketched Binghe looking rather happy with the situation. But then @softlystarstruck wrote the fic and it was so much more than I could ever have hoped for, and I made Binghe look less happy. But then the art didn't reflect the ending, and I couldn't leave them so distraught, so I did some quick edits to the picture to give Binghe a forehead kiss. Actually I'm gonna put the kiss picture here again because I can💖

What do the various layers do, from top to bottom?

Removing layer #1, sunlight (layer mode: Add)

Removing layer #2, pencil drawing scan (layer mode: Multiply)

Removing layers #3-8, sheer green fabric (layer mode: normal, ~60% opacity)

(Scroll carefully since SQQ isn't covered by anything anymore)

Removing layers #9 and 10, hair highlights (layer mode: normal) and skin shading (multiply)

I have been captivated by Giger’s Alien since I was a pre-teen. My inspirations for this piece were Alien (1979), Alien: Isolation, and Alien: Resurrection. Listen, I know Alien: Resurrection is…not great, but I don’t think Sigourney Weaver has EVER been hotter than in that role. And an Alien hybrid Luo Binghe fit so well.

We debated a clone Shen Qingqiu versus an android replica Shen Qingqiu (our version the Shen Yuan replacement of Shen Jiu) and ultimately decided on clone for those tasty tasty biological urges.

Anyhow, I just think Shen Qingqiu deserves to be dragged into a coffin vent and fucked by the hot xenomorph hybrid :3
