She is very possessive woman, she will feel threatened by Betra especially if she finds out you're under the same roof.
So you protecting Betra whether it be argument or physical fight she will see that as a stab in the back, in her mind she had you in her stomach, fed you, dealt with your tantrums, your highs and lows everything only for you to turn around and protect a woman who showed up out of the blue?
That won't fly with her while she wouldn't hit you she would get aggressive as in yanking you, pushing, etc or in a argument she would bring up everything she's done for you, completely glossing over the fact she left and putting blame on your father.
If you during any of this tell her you saw Betra as a better mom or even called her step-mom your mother will go absolutely ballistic throwing, kicking, punching things she will slash tires lock doors and so on even with Betra there.
As mentioned before your mother sees you as hers since if it weren't for her you wouldn't even be alive, so she feels no matter what she should always be the one and only mom no one else should even be close to that position no matter what the reason is.

Things would get complicated especially with your father.
He never once ever said anything bad about your mother, he always praised how good of a mother she was too you, what he failed to also do was prepare you for the consequences of not telling you.
Ultimately it was bound to happen the paper being handed to your father saying your mother wants 50/50 or full custody, During that time you've seen your father more tempermental, more anxious, biting his nails more even Betra seemed more tense than usual.
You still being oblivious to everything went about your business until you received a message from your mother from there you'd message back in excitement to finally hear from her again.
Of course you told your father about it, once you did however you noticed how his face seemed to drop and pale at the mention of this his eyes becoming teary, Yet he never told you to stop and encouraged you to keep in contact with her.
In which Betra was less then pleased to hear about but tried to talk to your father about it not being a good idea, it would fall on deaf ears as he insisted that it would be best for you to have your mother in your life so Betra and him went on as normally as they could throught the months.
The courts would ultimately reject her want for 50/50 custody and full custody and would instead do with supervised visitation in which your father would pay an agency to keep watch during those times.
At first everything was tense your father seemed to avoid eye contact, Betra seemed to always be annoyed and your mother very happy, happier then you've ever seen her, she never asked about about your father she only seemed interested in you.
That was until you mentioned Betra for the first time.
"Who's Betra?" Your mother asks making eye contact with you, "Dads wife." This seems to take your mother completely off guard seeing as she blinks and shakes her head leaning her head slightly.
"She lives with you and your father?" Her voice seems to raise a tiny bit her mood seeming to change from her usual smile.
"Yes...." you say with hesitation she seems give restrained laugh as she scratches the side of her nose putting her left hand on her hip "Do you call her mom?" She now looks very displeased at even having to ask that but before you can answer the one who is supervising the visit jumps into the conversation stopping your mother from asking you anything else.
After that you noticed how your mother brought you more gifts, became more affectionate and talkative even through messages she apologized about what happened and went on as normal but everything would go downhill the day Betra and your mother would meet face to face a month later after your mother was deemed fit for unsupervised visits.
Because of this you would at times crash into your mom when you went out to the store or went to hang around friends, unfortunately this time you were with Betra and right at the moment when she gave you a side hug you heard your mother.
Of course hearing her voice you turned your head only to see her eyeing Betra "who are you with?" Feeling reluctant to answer Betra takes the lead for you "I'm Betra, I'm sure you are aware of that." Almost immediately you see your mother tense up and her face become red as you see her jaw clench.
That encounter would almost end in a fight had it not been for your mother stopping when realising you would not want to see her again that she finally decided to back down and left practically stomping on the way to the Exit.
This encounter would only work to amplify her jealousy and possessiveness towards you, which in turn would cause her manipulation to come into play.
She'd ask if you still loved her, cared for her, did you prefer Betra over her etc things would get so bad that your father and Betra would notice a shift in your person causing them to immediately try to pry into what's happening, if you refused to tell them your father despite promising to respect you privacy would go snooping and try to figure out what's happening.
Once he does and let's Betra know what's happening suffice to say your mother isn't going to....you know be around for long.
There is no way for your mother to even get Betra to have even a tinge of sympathy or even see her as human even before you were involved so your mother manipulating you would be the final nail in the coffin, so her and your mother meeting will always end up in a fight, verbal or physical doesn't matter and of course as you already know deadly.
I vote to make the mother in the yandere stemother an oc.
Also is the readers bio mom also a yandere? Is she as extreme as Yandere stepmom?
I mean I can if that's what you all want gladly.
I would say in a way she is, Compared to Betra she doesn't hold you back if at all unless it's threatening your well-being so in a way her and Betra are opposites.
Betra wants you to grow successful, hardworking and independent wanting you to reach for the skies and further so you won't ever have to depend on another to care for you.
While your mother doesn't care, if you're passing that's good enough, your mother would prefer if you stayed home and depended on her solely, and trust her to care and provide for you.
So really your mother really sees you as a companion to have to always be there for her.
As a way to keep your head down she'd of course make sure you never worry about food, the clothes on your back and the occasional gift to keep you happy.
So I would way she is extreme in a more laxed manner she's just amazing at hiding it compared to Betra who shows it unintentionally during high stress situations for her anyways.

No, BioMom is very much alive she just decided to one day leave thought this wasn't the kind of life she wanted that she wanted entertainment not be a sahm.
So while your father was at work she cleaned out the house had you sent to one of your aunts house on your fathers side 2 hours away before completely disappearing without so much as a call or text just some divorce papers taped to the front door.
Your father ended up in a panic not knowing what to do his job was very demanding,he has a small child who he needs to look after alone, and a completely empty house the only room untouched being yours.
From there you remember being cared for by several nannies from as early 5:30 AM to 6PM you never saw your father much if at all if you did he was always sleeping.
Around this time your mother would try to come back into your lives with your father rejecting and refusing to let her see you, it had gotten to the point where you remember windows being broken, or the car being vandalized or things being stolen and many cop appearances because of this you now currently live where you do now.
BioMom was a amazing mother just a horrible wife and has done things to your father that you the reader still don't know of due to him wanting to protect the image of your mother in your mind all you really know is that she was the one to break the windows and vandalize your fathers car because he let it slip up one time and hasn't brought it back up since.
