I've been getting really good feedback on this series so I'm still going at it! The Kulu-Ya-ku isn't my favorite to work with but I think I did a good job making it fit. Now to the Bioscan!
Species Name: Sea Yaku
Biome - Lilypad Islands, Kelp Forest
Diet: Omnivore, mostly small creatures, eggs and fruits.
Behavior:
Scavenger Predator - The Sea Yaku is a curious creature that often stalks nests and small creatures it can grab. When not feeding on smaller creatures it will often eat off of the local flora.
Tool User - The Sea Yaku has been noted to grab things much like it's distant cousin the Sea Monkey, however, the Sea Yaku has shown far more proficiency with the use of tools, going as far as using rocks and sticks to defend itself if needed.
Other Info
1 - Finger like appendages - The most interesting feature of the Sea Yaku is it's fingers, they have a much more textured grip and form to compensate for their use underwater and it's development of a thumb like appendage along with it's application of tools may suggest similar evolutionary patterns to human ancestors, possible sapient like development within this species. Further research is required.
2 - Strong beak - The Sea Yaku has a thick shell around it's beak and will use this to dig into eggs, penetrate the shells of creatures and can break through stones to reach the shiny items within, often collecting shiny things for later use or to attract mates.
3 - Sensational Nodes - The Sea Yaku have demonstrated that the extremities on their head are multi functional. On one side it seems to be sensitive to vibrations in the water, the Sea Yaku relies on this sensitivity to alert it of incoming predators from a distance. Additionally the Sea Yaku can resonate these extremities to make vibrational patters to communicate with others of it's kind.
Assessment: Mostly harmless, will often move away at the sight of larger creatures, may lead to useful resources.
