Small gray bird with orange belly only visible from the back

Here’s the nest! Eggs are smaller than 1 inch. They’re all light blue with black speckles except for the white with brown speckles.

the birds chirp in just one small burst, kinda like a beep

from California, eggs laid from mid April to early May

also!! What eats/steals bird eggs??? This pic is from a few days ago, and now there’s only 4 eggs.
