For the last 11 months, Tubbo has meant more to me than I can even begin to describe. It's not often that you find someone so enthusiastic about everything they do in life, but Tubbo is the best example of what that looks like.
From late nights listening to him plan out his future cafe and satellites to waking up at 3am to him streaming himself learning the saxophone, this boy is non stop.
There was about a two week period, I think it was in late May to early June if I remember correctly, where he didn't stream. He mentioned later that for that amount of time he just fell out of love with streaming. Most people don't just stop doing things because they're not enjoying it, but he did, and that blew my mind.
But it's not his offline time that makes him so popular, obviously. He puts in so much work in everything he does, even if we don't see it, and it pays off.
The idea of someone retiring at 24 seems ridiculous until you realize his idea of retirement is exactly what he's doing now, just with another couple jobs as well.
One under appreciated thing about Tubbo is his openness. I mentioned it the other day, but the fact that Tubbo's openly queer but doesn't publicly label himself is really refreshing. Labels are frustrating and complicated enough on their own, without the pressure to add them to yourself for the ease of access of millions of people into your private life. So little of the things he does are kept private unless he legally can't mention them and he deserves to express himself without giving information he doesn't want to.
He's so effortlessly funny, passionate, warm and welcoming. Every time he spouts out some batshit crazy idea it seems like something he's already had figured out for ages. He's both an old soul and a young one and it's magical.
He's truly inspiring to watch and never makes things feel impossible. His mind is limitless and the world seems to revolve around him when he talks about his plans.
In the same way one would try to earn a cat's trust by sitting on the ground and letting it warm up to you, Tubbo streams are best enjoyed by letting them find you where you need them. There's a special connection forged by the time it takes to understand what's going on.
But in the way that you trust a friendly dog, any excitement is instantly matched and doubled. Going into a Tubbo stream feeling unmotivated will never end the same way. His energy is infectious and you learn to appreciate the drool (take that as you will, it's a metaphor)
18 isn't really as big as it seems sometimes, but watching him grow up is. I've watched him for 1/18th of his entire life!
In that time, he announced his passion project, released two merch drops, learned the baritone ukulele, and the saxophone, and wrote and produced a song, and lived with one of his best friends for 4 months, and went to the US for the first time, hit 4 million on one twitch account and 2 on another, hit 1, 2, and 3 million subscribers on YouTube, started gay rumors too many times to count, created hundreds of hours of incredibly entertaining content, and so much more that I can't even think of.
He's been one of the brightest lights in my life for the last year and I'm so happy to have found him and his content. Slash parasocial
