Ever driven, cycled or walked up the Bishop's Road from Downhill on to Binevenagh and been struck by the unspoilt natural beauty and amazing panoramic views.. Well, here's what's in store if this crazy proposal gets the go ahead.
This is the view from the Bishop's Road according to Windyfields' Environmental Statement.
Even Windyfields admits it will have a 'substantial effect': 'All proposed turbines will be visible from this viewpoint and represent a significant introduction into the view rising above the intervening forestry and ridgelines and be a dominant feature on the eastern part of Binevenagh … the large scale engineered elements will draw the eye in the broad panoramic view.'
Note how the photographer frames the shot with a small bush on the left and a line of fence posts, looking up at the turbines, to lessen the dramatic impact of the picture. Remember the turbines are 125 metres high, almost as tall as the London Eye.
By the way the Bishop's Road is promoted as a scenic drive, part of the Ulster Way and National Cycle Route 93.
Anyone who thinks the turbines are on the 'other side of the hill' and somehow won't be seen, think again. Object now!
Someone just 'died' down the road, he held onto the back of a car and fell backwards cracking his head open. There's blood everywhere his trainers and jeans are on the floor, an ambulance landed in the park, there was shock pads and the entire top part of my road is still blocked off..
I didn't hear a thing, oops.
