I know it was mentioned in the patch notes that they fixed the bite scene if he already told you he was a vampire, I was curious what that meant, maybe he'd politely wake my character and be like "hey remember what I told you earlier? Well could I bite you for reasons?" Something like that, well in my current honor mode attempt he ended up telling me he's a vampire while we were out and about adventuring and there just isn't a bite scene, you can talk to him and find out about Cazador and all of that but you don't get the option to become his juice box as he has never bitten you. He just tells you and immediately has his bite action and all the characters start having their vampire banter with him and you can discuss with the others. I think I got some approval for being like yeah I know you're a vampire but I'm pretty sure I missed out since you normally get approval for letting him bite you, not freaking out, and defending him to the group and him just telling you removes a lot of that. I've had him tell me before in past runs and it's nice to think he decides to trust you enough with the info which is huge for him, but from the romance angle I prefer the bite. A) it's the classic vampire bite=sex thing (I'm not normally into vampires but let's face it the angle is there and there for a reason), but also B) I like the whole he's never bitten a thinking creature and he's violating Cazador's rules and he chose you, which if you want to romance him adds a lot in my opinion because there's already a trust and intimacy forming likely before you've ever hooked up (I know it's possible to get the sex scene without knowing he's a vampire but that mostly seems to be from speed running to the party and not resting very much). I just thought people might want to know about this change.
TLDR: If Astarion confesses he's a vampire to you outside the bite scene you don't get the bite scene as of Patch 5.
