Romance but make it black wlw 🌸💗
Ive been attempting to draw Fairy as a pokemon trainer for years but I think I just never really sat down to think about it and actually try to translate them. I kept moreso trying to get a 1-1 and I think that threw me off quite a bit.
Im pretty happy with how these all came out. If you'd like to know more about them as a trainer, info below the 'read more' !
it’s just a group hug, i swear! 👀🥵 @meanbossart was so kind and let me borrow DU Drow for this *ahem* group hug. see the full spicy set on my p@tr3on!! 😏❤️🔥
To faeries the fact that humans can lie is deeply unnatural.
Faeries are creatures that can completely break the laws of physics. They understand them, but they're suggestions at best to them. They have true forms, but can choose to take on other forms, they have a general idea of things like gravity and spacetime but can go agaisnt them if they want to. None of it is even magic to them, reality warping is just something any sentient being from their dimension can do.
However, faeries are bound entirely by any contract they come into. It is as impossible for them to lie, for them to break a promise or a deal, or for them to disobey their own laws, as it is for one of us to disobey the laws of reality, even traditions and social rules are things they can't break. And faeries think of the ability to lie or to disobey laws as a type of magic. Just like how the few humans who can break physics in very limited ways are witches, even if their power is nothing compared to that of faeries, the few faeries who can disobey social rules in limited ways are considered witches, even if their ability to do so is less then that of any human.
This is also why faerie nobility are so powerful. Since as faeries they don't have any laws of physics constraining them, and as nobility most laws and social constructs are entirely in their favor, they have power that's close to that of gods.
This is also why faeries think humans can change gender and humans think faeries can change gender.
Faeries are often shocked by the things humans do. Faeries who want to venture into our dimension often study are laws, and then end up horrified when those laws aren't held to with any consistency. This is why faeries often have bad experiences with humans stealing from them, because under normal circumstances it's impossible for anyone to steal what's officially their own, so if they lash out at a human stealing something of theirs they're lashing out at a human doing something that they view as an impossible form of magic. At their point faeries are pretty used to humans lying or stealing from them, so even if they don't like or really understand it a lot of them know what they're going into when interacting with humanity. However, some more complex things are still shocks to them, and faeries are always learning new ways humans can catch them off guard.
Humans can be very dangerous to faerie society because of this because we can just sort of insert things into their world that couldn't otherwise exist. If a human lies to a faerie and it spreads ampung faeries then there's a possible chain of misinformation spreading that otherwise couldn't via faeries being mysteriously wrong about things for reasons nobody can really understand.
While lying or breaking laws is magic to faeries but nothing incomprehensibly horrifying. There are however a few things that humans can do that really creeps faeries out. One of the most major ones is having to work through, or otherwise miss holidays and rituals. Like, to humans not being able to celebrate a holiday from your culture because work gets in the way is a terrible experience, but to faeries it's a horrible thing that shouldn't be possible. Faeries will react to it the same way we'd react to body horror, or other mortifying things that only magic can do, and that we don't have any mental preparation for. And faeries are specifically horrified whenever a human causes a faerie to end up doing that type of thing by using our "magic".
When a human spends to much time in the home dimension of faeries, or a faerie spends to much time in our dimension, or if a child is born with mixed faerie and human parentage, the ability to disobey physic/social constructs tends to distort. For humans this means gaining what seem like extreme magic powers though losing some of our ability to lie or to break laws, and for faeries this means gaining extreme "magic" powers but at the cost of some shape-shifting or elemental powers that should be second nature to all faeries.
Basically in short both faeries and humans view the other as being creatures of chaos, while actually being incredibly restrained from the others' perspective. Do with this knowledge as you will.
