Mail day (Yo-SD clothes and Peter Pan shoes)

This is the first time I’ve received an outfit in such a large reuseable storage box! *_*  This is “starry starry night”, a limited edition Yo-SD-sized outfit by 暖暖暖薄荷 which I won the right to purchase via a lottery on Weibo. ^-^  

Beside it are a pair of Yo-SD shoes by Peter Pan (with their miniature shoe box), and at the back are two limited edition coat and scarf sets by 新建北村 which were pre-ordered in January.  I’ll show Shou modelling one of the coat sets in my next post.

Here are the pieces to “starry starry night”. *___*   The dark blue furry fabric is silky soft and extremely lightweight - perfect for this scale of clothing.  The velvet ribbon ties on the hat are feather-soft, too - probably a silk blend.  I’ll show Seren (kindergarten Xing-xing/ Kun-kun) in this set in a future post!

The corduroy shoes in the foreground are the new pair I received from Peter Pan, the quality is impeccable and they fit Yo-SD perfectly!  I recommend this Taobao shop for unique, good quality BJD shoes.  This particular style is still for sale, together with the MSD-sized version.  

The burgundy sneakers at the back are also by Peter Pan, but are sold out.  They have custom-designed solid vinyl bases and are very versatile if your tinies dress casually, as mine do.  In the final pre-order, they were only sold in a set of ten(!) colours, so I was a sucker and ordered one... feel free to let me know if you’re interested in purchasing any as I’ll be looking to sell some colours (such as the duplicate of this burgundy pair) once the set arrives. ^^

A photo comparison post by the sculptor of LLT, comparing an illegally copied version (”recast”) of her LLT Roderich sculpt with Ballerino body against the (gorgeous) original. 

She points out that the body of the illegal copy is shorter overall, individual parts have also shrunk (due to the nature of the (re)casting process), the joints have changed shape and do not fit together as smoothly and beautifully - there is noticeable gaping and it even affects joint mobility e.g. in the wrists.  The resin of the illegal copy is shiny versus the matte resin of the original, and there are small defects in the resin.  Details that have changed include how tightly the headcap sits, the shape of the eyes, and the sculpted folds of the skin on the pointe feet.  The shape of the illegal copy’s face has also changed drastically due to shrinkage during the re-casting process and the inner mouth shape is damaged.  The original head’s skin texture is also lost.  The interior of the parts is rough and unfinished compared to the original.   Please be sure to visit the link above and click the photos to see the photo evidence.

The last photo shows how to distinguish the fake certificate of authenticity from the original.  The sculptor also expresses her unhappiness at the high price being charged for the illegal copy, and how people may think that her work is of low standard, due to the poor quality of the copy.

For a doll where much of the appeal and beauty is in the sensitivity of the original sculpting and the quality of the product, I see even less reason why one would make do with an illegal copy.  My heart goes out to this talented artist!

ASAI’s (The lunarlake) latest 1/4 scale head(s), Ash and Snow, are up for pre-order!  The screenshot above is taken from her Weibo.  Aren’t they gorgeous??  Ash has an open mouth whilst Snow’s mouth is pursed.  They are available in white, normal, grey or tan, with optional matching Doll Family-H bodies.  If matching with another body, a shoulder width of at least 9.5cm is recommended by the artist.  I think either head would make a stunning girl~

Furniture for Blythe, Jerryberry, etc. (Missyodoll)

Missyodoll has opened her 2020 furniture pre-order!  It ends on the 25th of this month, after which all clothing and furniture currently listed in her shop will be taken down whilst new items are being prepared (source: Weibo).  So if you like something of hers, now might be a good time to get it!  Most of her items are for Blythe and Jerryberry, with some styles scaled for OB11 or Yo-SD, too.  

I'm gutted that her Blythe furniture, such as the beautiful leather sofa set pictured above, is not quite in scale for Yo-SD, unless you suspend disbelief and don’t have any bigger dolls in your collection which ever appear together with the tinies. XD;  But, I think some of the other pieces, such as the wooden caravan and this chair, could work for my little ones!  I’ll probably grab some furnishings, plus a few bits of clothing which I can’t make myself.  Helpfully, measurements are provided for most items, and the prices are pretty reasonable, too.

It also includes Yo-SD and Pettimal bodies, which I have, alongside other bodies I am interested in! :DDD (in short, yes to BWY and SQ-Lab Yo-SD-sized bodies, maybe to Akagi, unlikely for Shoushou 29cm, definite no to Iplehouse KID - those limbs are too slender to be believable beside Yo-SD and MSD.)

My addiction to Weibo has led to me being drawn in a lottery to buy a limited-run outfit, for the first time ever!!  One participates in a lottery by sending a private message on Weibo to the artist within a stipulated timeframe, which is often limited to half an hour or so.  (It is also a way to ward off scalpers, who snatch up popular limited outfits sold via other platforms, only to resell them almost immediately for higher prices.)  

I feel that this momentous occasion deserves to be memorialised in my blog.  感谢暖暖暖薄荷太太，小衣服太好看了！

The model for this adorable outfit is a kindergarten Kun-kun, so it seems apt that it should also be my Xing-xing/ Kun-kun’s welcoming outfit~ ^-^

Gorgeous water-side shots with an Asleep Eidolon girl in floaty hanfu~~  They remind me of cenniedolls’ work - daring to put dollies by/ in the water (and what I imagine to be the inevitable and unenviable clean-up, afterwards.... XD;;)
