Slap and Bump

That sounds dirty when I type it out. Lol. But I really just wanted to jot down some ideas on the bjj hand slap and fist bump prevalent in most schools I've trained.

The slap and bump is more than just an "alright, go!" The slap and bump is a sign of respect for your partner akin to a bow in more traditional martial arts. It's a way of saying to your partner, "let's agree to test our skill and technique against each other in a friendly match until one of us yields."

#teampedrosauer @gjjsav rolled out and took home the team trophy today at #NEWBREED #savannah! I won two silver medals for losing two matches (because there were only two people in each of my brackets) but hey, I'm still proud of them. I survived against a former college wrestler/brown belt that owns his own school and only lost 2-0 from getting taken down. Then I had a nice back and forth match with one of my best training partners from my school where I got a reversal from bottom and almost hit a Kimura but lost 7 - 2. And I beat everyone who didn't sign up and come out to compete.
