November 17th, 2003 - The day Mario & Luigi: Superstar saga released. 20 years ago, this game graced the GBA and brought wonderful memories to people all around the globe.
I wanted to draw something nice for the 20th anniversary, given I've somehow missed all prior anniversaries in the 8 years I've been obsessing over this game :'') Character close-ups under cut!
HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARY TO MARIO AND LUIGI: SUPERSTAR SAGA FROM THE STARBEANS DISCORD SERVER!!
THE COLLAB:
Every original character you see pictured here have their origins in the Beanbean Kingdom! As many of us have a deep appreciation for this one-off location in the Super Mario universe, we wanted to pull together a group photo to show just how much it still means to us 20 years later! Long live Beanbean! Click under the cut to learn more!

It wasn't until doing these drawings that I came to realize how many enemies and locations in the game are partially named after some form of laughter (or, in this case, talking). I wonder if something similar was achieved in the Japanese version...
