🖤 Black Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This is a reread for me as the first time I read it was back in middle school when I first got the book. Out of the Dragon Codicies series, this was the first one I purchased and is my favorite one so far!
Satia, a thief with a knack for lying, is kidnapped by a young black dragon as a snack. When the dragon’s mother is kidnapped by an evil wizard, Satia and the dragon, Septimus, become an unlikely team in their journey to save his mother from being enslaved.
Ugh, I love this book. It’s definitely a comfort read for me because there are some plot twists that get me every time! Like I said, I read the book first when I was younger, and ever since I’ll pick it up for a classic “fantasy read”. I just love the unconventional characters and the friendships they make along the way. I also love how these characters are morally grey or “bad” but they have good intentions. The main character, Satia, is my favorite! She’s spunky, a liar, a thief, and she doesn’t gain a moral high ground. She’s wonderful!
