“Dear Reader, What would you do if you discovered you might be a dragon?”
🔖 Current 🐲 Dragon 📕 Book: Silver Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham
thinking about how one of my favorite book series in middleschool just never finished and now im left wanting
and also im thinking about how my favorite story from that series was like this girl in a travelling circus and her friend that simped for her discovered she's actually a silver dragon transformed to look like a human and how her whole schtick is that someone stole her egg(s) and in a rage she attacked a city nearby believing they took them and somehow she ended up losing her memory and being taken in by the circus.... that's run by the man who was ACTUALLY responsible for taking her eggs and causing the city's destruction, and so the dragon lady and her simp boy had to prove that it was the ringmaster and not her that did the Bad Thing(tm) before this dragon hunter (??) guy either imprisoned her or forced her to work for the ringmaster for the rest of her life
anyways i remember really not liking the egg-stealing thing bc there was this scene where her and her friends stumble upon her old cave/nest and she's just suddenly filled with grief and anger all over and finally remembers WHY and she's like "my babies.... they TOOK my babies....." and i was always just kind of like... yeah thats sad but also what the fuck........................... and to this day i still feel the exact same way
but i also remember this part where her and simp boy are stuck in these cages separated by bars at the circus bc the ringmaster is trying to kill her friends so he can keep her in the circus under his command forever and so while her part of the cage has only her in it, simp boy's part of the cage has some deadly animal that's tryna kill him
and dragon girl is like "jace am i a human that turns into a dragon, or a dragon that turns into a human?"
and hes like trying not to, you know, DIE, so he's like "what???? im kiind of busy here"
and shes like "if a part of me becomes no longer a part of me, will it turn back into a dragon?" or some bullshit liek that
and jace is like HUH????
and he's almost dead or whatever and dragon girl is like "jace catch!" and she throws him a dagger suddenly and only after he kills the creature attacking him does he realize the "dagger" is bloody and it's actually a dragon's claw and she tore out her human nail and it transformed back into a dragon claw upon no longer being attached to her and her magic
and that scene was so fucking awesome i've never gotten over it

Rating: 🌟🌟🌟/5
When a white-robed wizard shows up at a circus and accuses Belen, a performer, of being a silver dragon who killed a whole village, it’s up to her and her friends to uncover this mystery. As they travel to the ruined village, more signs point to an even bigger problem, an even bigger threat. Will they be able to solve this puzzle?
The sixth book in the Dragon Codices, it was fast-paced, adventurous, and really showed growth with the characters we followed. I enjoy delving into the world of Krynn and meeting some interesting folk, getting to go on adventures and potentially meet dragons!
Although, there was one aspect of this book I didn’t like which was how the writer treated the character Ebano, who is a “foreigner” and doesn’t speak the common language. They frequently refer to his own language as strange and he felt very middle eastern/asian-coded which put a sour taste in my mouth. He is one of my favorite characters in the book and I just wish they treated him with more respect when describing his customs and life.
Top Three Dragon Books on my TBR
“Silver Dragon Codex” by R.D. Henham
“The Flight of Dragons” by Peter Dickinson
“Black Powder War” by Naomi Novik
I realized that the Dragon Codicies series actually has a reading order and is not just a free-for-all. You don’t HAVE to read them in order, but there are hints at other books within the series that make more sense if you read them in order.
It goes:
Red
Bronze
Black
Brass
Green
Silver
Gold
I’m reevaluating my reading order 😅
GUESS WHOSE SET IS NOW COMPLETE!!!!!! I FINALLY GOT THE GREEN DRAGON CODEX, BABY!!!!!
