After finishing the July Dragon Book I thought I’d get a head start on the August Dragon Book theme which is Dungeons & Dragons, so I wanted to start “Brass Dragon Codex” by R.D. Henham- based in Krynn from the Dragonlance Chronicles.

This series was written for a younger audience and they’re fantastic!

🌩️ Brass Dragon Codex by R.D. Henham (Dragon Codeces #4)

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

An orphaned baby brass dragon named Kyani ventures into the desert and finds the gnome Hector, who is bent on proving that his new lightning communication invention works. But when the two find out that some want the lightning device as a weapon, they have to change plans.

I love this series so much. This book had some amazing dragons, some gnomes, some peril, and some messages on how we need to communicate better face to face. Hector is a fun and inventive main character who is working on his Life Quest invention, along with his friend Amber, then we meet Kyani (or Tumbleweed) and he just adds so much humor to the page.

The main “moral” of the story was fantastic as it was about being an attentive listener and caring about those around you. It was very relatable and still holds up since I think a lot of people could benefit from learning these skills, myself included!

I realized that the Dragon Codicies series actually has a reading order and is not just a free-for-all. You don’t HAVE to read them in order, but there are hints at other books within the series that make more sense if you read them in order.

It’s August, baby!!! You know what that means?

It’s the newest addition to the 2024 Year of the Dragon Reading Challenge!!

August’s theme is “Dungeons & Dragons”, so I went with Brass Dragon Codex by R. D. Henham which takes place in the world of Krynn.

I finished “Bronze Dragon Codex” and technically the next book in the series is “Black Dragon Codex”, but I originally started this series out of order so I’ve already read that one (and loved it). So I’ll be moving on to the next next one, “Brass Dragon Codex”.

In another volume of the companion series to A Practical Guide to Dragons,  orphaned baby brass dragon Kyani ventures out into the desert to find  something to eat, and finds a gnome named Hector instead. Hector is not  so sure he wants a chatty, hungry brass dragon following his every move.  But several groups ready to go to blows over the marvelous invention  Hector guards with his life, he may need the help that only a fun-loving  brass dragon can provide.
