🥀💀 Bellatrix Black 💀🥀

There she is, the Mistress of Evil :) She scares me so much. I wanted to share a few thoughts on young Bellatrix. She’s rough around the edges, she has a blatant dark side and she’s not scared of anything, which makes her reckless.

In contrast to her sisters, Bellatrix is not afraid to show her sharp edges. She doesn’t care about being liked and she likes to shock people. Her views on the Wizarding World are extreme, like her parents, and her loyalty to the Dark Arts and the Dark Lord runs deep. I feel like she would be good at mind games and psyching people out, alongside having a talent for curses and violence. I look forward to drawing her adult self, to see what damage Azkaban has done to her :)

I put the sketches here again, to compare them with the end result. I’m glad I took the time to sketch out some outfit ideas. Bellatrix’s style is so specific and bold, I needed to practice :)

Regulus Black : Ahn,okay? Can we start now? -look for the others.

Narcisa Black :I thought we had already started.

Sirius Black: Blondes.

Narcisa Black: What do you mean by that?

Sirius Black:I mean …

Andromeda Black: Okaaay. We really don’t need this.

Narcisa and Sirius Black: But Andromeda…

Andromeda Black: Don’t start with “this was not my fault” stuff . Because I won’t listen.

Narcisa and Sirius: But… - Stop when Andromeda glances at them.

Andromeda: Good. Regulus?

Regulus:Well…

Andromeda: Wait. Where’s Bellatrix?

Bellatrix (from nowhere) I’M HERE!

Andromeda: WHERE IS HERE?

Bellatrix (arises from Andromeda’s side) : Here.

Andromeda (jumps) : Where did you come from?

Bellatrix: Well…This is embarrasing but when two people love each other they wanna get as close as possible so then…

Andromeda:STOP! I DON’T WANNA KNOW!

Bellatrix:But you…

Andromeda: I just wanted to know where you was…

Bellatrix:Oh! I was in the kitchen.

Andromeda: Doing?

Bellatrix: Things.

Andromeda:Oh,thanks Bella.That explains a lot!

Bellatrix: Yeah.

Andromeda:…

Bella looks to Andromeda.

Andromeda: Let me see you hands…

Bellatrix: NO!

Andromeda:Let me see you hands,Bella!

Bellatrix:NO!

Andromeda don’t hear that. Andromeda don’t hear nothing. Andromeda does nothing but walk toward Bella.

Bella run. Runs for herself,for her father,for her mother,for her unborn children. For the “days” of her sister are over now. Andromeda,can’t be like that for more than seven days,right? Right?

Andromeda jumps in front of Bellatrix,grabbing her dirty red hands.

Andromeda:AHA!I KNEW IT!I KNEW IT!

Bellatrix: Andromeda…I’m so sorry. I- I didn’t want to…

Andromeda:BUT YOU DID!YOU DID AGAIN!

Bellatrix: But I didn’t mean that…

Andromeda:I’m so disappointed with you.

Bellatrix:I can explain!

Andromeda:There’s no what explain. Look at your hands.

Bellatrix (with tears in the eyes and sobbing) look for the others who look away.

Bellatrix :I’M SORRY! I’M SORRY,OKAY! I DIDN’T WANT TO EAT THE LAST PIECE OF PIE BUT I COULDN’T RESIST!

Andromeda:You said everybody it was Kreacher!House-elves even eat pies.

Bellatrix: Fine.  How did you want me to know that?

Regulus: Actually,they can eat pies.It’s just Kreacher who don’t like it cause I don’t like it,too.

Eveybody looks at him.

Regulus:What?It’s true. You can read in the books “house- elves will always prefer foods appreciated by their Master. Feeling disgusted when eating food hated by their Master. Especially, when there’s a deeper connection between them.

Sirius: But you’re no his Master. This is your dad.

Regulus: How do you dare?!

Sirius: I-

Regulus:I’ll be in the future. Untill then,he considers me like that.

Sirius: Ok.

Everyone stands quiet for a minute.

Sirius:Does it work for people too?

Regulus: Maybe.

Sirius: I’m worried about your feelings for me then.Cause he just call me “Nasty”,”Disgraceful” and other things.

Regulus: That’s cause you’re a git.

There’s a silence in the room.

Sirius:HOW -

Andromeda: Okay,coming back to the important things (turn to Bellatrix): How do you feel ?

Bellatrix:I’m so ashamed now.

Andromeda: Good. Are you sorry?

Bellatrix:Yes.

Andromeda:Will you ever do that again?

Bellatrix: Nope.

Andromeda:I forgive you SINCE you tell the truth for ou parents now!

Bellatrix : But Andromeda…

Andromeda : NOW!

Bellatrix (signs):Okay.

Bellatrix leaves the room.

Andromeda:Well,what were we talkin about?

Sirius: GIT IS YO…

Andromeda: OHH! I remembered. Regulus?

Regulus(signs):Hey,people.

Silence.

Regulus:…

Andromeda: Very good. But why did you stop it?

Regulus:I forget what I was going to say.

Andromeda:What? For real?

Narcisa:Andie,may I?

Andromeda: Say it.

Narcisa: Okay,ladies and gentlemans. Are you ready for the most incredible notice ever?

Sirius: Well,yeah! If they are reading it,obviosly they are.

Narcisa(faking a smile) :Don’t ruin it. Please. Just don’t.

Sirius: Well,I think…

Narcisa: SHUT UP!

Sirius: I just…

Narcisa: BE QUIET,SIRIUS!

Andromeda:Let her talk.

Narcisa: Thanks Andie. How I was saying,you won’t believe it. But we the most perfect family in the world -

Sirius- Just because of me. Because for the others members….That isn’t true.

Andromeda and Narcisa:SIRIUS,QUIET!

Sirius: O- Okay!

Narcisa: We decided that you can’t keep perfection just for you. So,since now,we are gonna to tell you everything. EVERYTHING.

E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G-

Sirius: I think they already understood that … …

Narcisa: That is happening  in our life. Or what happened. Or  what will happen. Yeah,we will let you read about our adventures,problems in the school or in home,romantic relathionships and beauty advices-

Regulus,Sirius and Andromeda: WHAT?

Narcisa:Nothing.

Regulus,Sirius and Andromeda keep staring at her.

Narcisa:OKAY,you don’t need it. But I’ll say about it. Even if against all of you. And don’t look me with that face.

Regulu,Andromeda,Sirius- This is my only face.

Narcisa:W- wow.T- That  was pretty scary.

Regulus: Actually not. This is just the first phrase which everybody thinks in a situation like that. That’s because the man is an animal naturally sarcastic. And- notice everybody staring at him. -Oh,Narcisa,you can conti -

African Wonder Woman

I saw these kids, 2 sisters, having a play fight. While striking their favorite Power Ranger poses, one of them declared:

“You can’t touch me! I have super powers!!”

“What super powers?” asked the other.

“I’m Wonder Woman!!"

Unfazed, the other replied:

“Well…I’m an AFRICAN Wonder Woman so you can’t beat me!”

I was Floored. Never in my life had I seen such a powerful assertion, spoken so matter of factly, from a child no less. To see such pride taken in her people, to see African-ness wielded like a weapon superior to any Superman, Batman or Wonderwoman cemented within me our responsibility to teach our children a profound love and reverence for our culture, for African-ness. What also resonated with me was this child’s understanding that this reverence for our culture serves as a power source to strengthen us and is key in our fight for liberation. She understood that African-ness is something to be revered as well as weaponized and used to fuel out struggle. She understood that African-ness is a super power and she is our African Wonderwoman. Kudos to their parents because these babies are a shining example of a conscious subversion of the white supremacist ideals our children are bombarded with the moment they enter the world. This is what we need to foster in our children, an unshakeable pride in their skin. It starts in the household. Ofcourse, before we can nurture it in our children, we have to nurture it in ourselves. African-ess is a grounding, self-affirming energy to imbue within our selves and a weapon to wield against our oppressors. Its a reminder of our African, radical tradition of struggle and perseverance. It’s an evocation of the enduring strength of our ancestors, an inextinguishable spirit that burns within us today. We all have this superpower; we just need to activate it

🌹Andromeda Black🌹 The second of the Black sisters. I had fun drawing Andromeda. She was surprisingly easy. I was going for a rom-com protagonist vibe. The girl next door, the kind and slightly mysterious girl with a complicated backstory :) And may I just say... I love the red outfit so much! I want it. Like all of the Black family members, Andromeda has a high level of class. Her clothes fit well and are of good quality. She dresses feminine, in a way that fits her kind personality. She doesn't crave being the center of attention and gladly lets her sisters take the lead socially. Andromeda is perfectly content doing her own thing. But make no mistake! When she's provoked, the full Black psycho is unleashed. She's fiercely protective of the ones she loves. I can't wait to finish the series with Bellatrix. She's going to be a joy to draw :)

~* Narcissa Black *~ The youngest of the Black Sisters. I can't believe she fell in love with Lucius Malfoy (barffff) but here we are.

I drew her very girly. Now, that is my opinion. I think, as a teenager, Narcissa was probably the most vain of her sisters. She cared about clothes, about her appearance. She knew she was pretty and would not shy away from using that to her advantage from time to time. I drew her with curls as well. This, I haven't really seen around much. I think that people have drawn Narcissa with straight hair so much because the actress who portrayed her in the films, Helen McCrory; may she rest in peace, had a straight-hair wig. The same applies to the black and blonde strands, although let us be honest... that style really pops off, damn. I've seen people on TikTok dye their hair like Narcissa Malfoy and I couldn't agree more. It's so badass. Anyway... I drew her with curls because it is a Black family thing. Bellatrix and Andromeda have curls too. Perhaps, later in life, Narcissa found a way to permanently straighten her hair, or she does it every day. The way I see it, her natural hair is curly and I think it looks great on her :) The outfits were a real struggle... I like the middle one, it feels very playful and fashionable. Narcissa gives all the 'youngest sibling' energy. The world definitely revolves around her :) So, yeah, I'm a bit torn about how this turned out, but I'm excited to continue figuring out the Black sisters. It's fun and new for me.

Hiya! Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like my work. I actually have not yet drawn the Black sisters. I think I did some sketches, about a year ago... I've put them below. But I would love to draw those women again, officially this time. I already put them on my list. There are so many great characters to draw, good God. I want to do them all at once! I can't-but I'll damn well try! Just watch me. I have so many thoughts on Andromeda. She is... Ugh, the whole concept of her character is so interesting. I'm going to have a blast with her. Also with Narcissa and Bellatrix. They are just so different. It's a really interesting concept to work with as an illustrator. You know what, I'll work on the Black sisters during my Christmas break next week. Let's make it a dark and gloomy feast with family trauma <3 Joy to the world indeed! Can you tell I'm excited? No? Well, here we are anyway. I'm thrilled. It's a great request. Thank you!
