Spider-Man 2099 Gets New Limited Series
In 2022 Marvel released Spider-Man 2099: Exodus, and in May 2023 Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, will face a new threat. Spider-Man 2099: Dark Genesis is a new five-issue limited series from writer Steve Orlando and artist Justin Mason.
Nueva York is under attack from a new Carnage. “Luckily, Spider-Man 2099 won’t face it alone as he assembles a team of 2099 heroes, including redefined fan-favorites like Punisher 2099 and Daredevil 2099 and brand-new characters like Blade 2099! As society begins to crumble, Spider-Man 2099 will need all the help he can get—but does the public even want his help? Or do they all just want to watch this world burn?” (Marvel Comics)
Spider-Man 2099: Dark Genesis #1 (of 5), featuring a cover by Nick Bradshaw, goes on sale on May 3, 2023.

I have officially read every Spiderman 2099 comic minus Symbiote Spiderman 2099 bc I just could not care less about that.
The best one? Miguel O'Hara Spiderman 2099. The 5 comic run is one of the most enjoyable reading experiences I've had with this character. The 'villains' if they can be called that, are mostly working towards personal goals that aren't necessarily oppositional to Spiderman's which is very interesting. I enjoy seeing him solving problems with more than his claws. The Man-Thing of 2099 really stuck with me, the character design is just great.
Notes:
I really love the acrobatics in the 2014, 2019, and 2024 runs. They feel fluid and are really impressive.
2. the 1992 run was good but the fact that they literally ret-conned the entire ending was just annoying. I get that having his mom, dad, and fiance die AND having his girlfriend run away AND having his brother turn evil was like a lot but c'mon. You can't just take all of that away like it didn't happen, it did! I liked it! It was brash and a really loose interpretation of an ending but by god was it an ending.
3. Do not like how Gabri is just not the Goblin, that would have been such a cool direction. They don't even do anything interesting with Gabri in the later runs he just shows up for 3 panels and disappears until, god I don't even know, the next time they bring Spiderman 2099 back?
4. Seriously why did they change the entire ending?
5. The Man-Thing's story felt like such a clean ending to the 2024 run. It had a story that had consequences similar to ones Spiderman took to destroy the Black Cards. I liked how it didn't end the world like the '92 run did, it just set things up for a more interesting future.
6. I'm very excited to read the new End of 2099 comic this December, very excited. Hope Spiderman 2099 is like a focal point and not just a plot device like in Exodus.
7. Dark Genesis was really good! Blade 2099 is awesome and, again, I just love the character design. He's so interesting.
8. Actually, pretty much every 2099 hero is cooler than their 616 counterpart. Winter Soldier? Girl, better. Doctor Strange? Girl, better. The list goes on.
9. Spiderman 2099 kind of lacks character, I feel that because he started out as this white dude the writers felt this weird obligation to keep him white which ultimately just made him boring, he is no different than any other Marvel hero in most of these stories. Things get interesting when they give him time to stretch his legs but honestly most of the runs are too short for him to do anything. I really wish there were more comics of him and just him being Miguel O'Hara, you know?
10. Counterpoint. He just keeps getting hotter and hotter and hotter as they keep developing him. The more swings they take the closer they get to the perfect Miguel, the perfect interior for the perfect exterior Spiderman.
