Part of being in quarantine and not touching/being around people for months means that when the owner of the venue/guy who booked us decided to spend our entire conversation rubbing my back and shoulders and going for the side boob, I was very not ready for/used to it at all and I’m honestly still grossed out and it ruined a bit of my day

I have to ask, you once said Jeankasa would likely happen because "that everything should matter, so Jean’s feelings for Mikasa should matter somehow". With that said, why Mikasa's feelings don't matter? I mean not only she clearly has loved someone else in her entire life, but she's also not even friends with Jean. So why pair her up with him? Just because when he was a teenager he used to have a crush on her? If Eren died and Mikasa wants to have a family, she could just go to Hizuru.

Sigh. I’m guessing you’re the same person as last month. What may shock you is that I love shipping and I love discussing, but I hate arguing, and I hate arguing about ships especially.

Why are you so determined to get me to change my mind? What does it matter to you what I think? Also, this is not even in the chapter!

Your argument is a straw man and reminiscent of the “Eren’s feelings matter how dare you think he’ll return Mikasa’s when he didn’t realize she was trying ot kiss him?” And I ship Eremika and don’t ship Jeankasa.

I’m not analyzing them as real people when it comes to predicting where the story will go, because they aren’t. I don’t think Eren is beyond saving, but I don’t think the narrative will spare him. I’m analyzing them as characters, as creations of a writing whose desires are crafted with the eye on a story that means something. Which doesn’t mean they’re caricatures, but rather that Isayama is like… the god of the story. Characters have free will, and they frequently take longer to get to where they need to be than you’d want, but you also do have a general plan for them.

I was talking about the narrative in which every single detail should matter in the best written stories–if it doesn’t contribute to character development or to the plot or themes, it should be cut. Now, that often isn’t the case (it rarely is, and honestly MDZS is the only fandom one I can think of where it is), as every writer is flawed and I know I don’t always do this at all, but that is the standard writers aim for. If Jean having a crush on Mikasa was a) never played for laughs, b) has caused him no development because it was Marco and Eren who have challenged him so far, and now Floche, not Mikasa, then why did Isayama introduce it?

I hope that, if it is where Yams goes, Jean and Mikasa interact in a more meaningful way than just an epilogue scene. I could be wrong. I’m fine with that because I don’t even ship it, but having Mikasa not end up with the family she wants doesn’t satisfy me. But then the crush should never have been introduced at all–which is certainly possible. I just make predictions based on the idea that most details are going to matter.
