The whole idea around Miriam is to explore female loneliness and to attract Outlasts perception of horror away from sexual violence (which I feel it relies on).
Miriam was once a troubled young lady that struggled with expression and crippling shyness. Bullying in her youth lead her to develop a low self esteem, with the vague neglect from her parents leaving her isolated in a world thats out to hurt her. Self harm and other self destructive feelings became a prominent part of her life.
As she grew older, she turned to recreational drugs, after being pressured into it by classmates. These drugs dominated her life, as she felt it was necessary to 1. fit in, and 2. feel ‘normal’ inside of her own head. She began her descent into mental distress as hallucinogens became too weak for her, and the average upper becoming almost obsolete. To which she began experimenting.
She took a keen interest in chemistry, learning the adverse effects of certain chemicals on the body. While she never manufactured any substances of her own, she always found these chemicals strangely.. Alluring.
She went into psychiatry as the only resort to receive any sort of praise (or dependancy in her case) from unsuspecting people. She fed off of how willing and open people were with her, her delusions having her believe these relationships are more than professional. Not romantic, but something more sinister.
Still struggling with self harm and substance abuse, she developed a newfound attachment to manipulating her clients, going to such extremities to ‘sort out’ any issues clients were having in their personal lives (you cant sleep because your neighbours dog is barking? well, heres its head on your doorstep! you think your husband is cheating on you? well he just so happened to have left another womans bra in his bag!), they began small, such as prescribing medication unfit for the clients needs, but then grew into more sinister actions.
Stalking became her way of showing appreciation and loyalty to her clients. While intelligent, she was never careful, which subsequently got her caught in the end.
Her body is littered with pocks and swollen fat tissue. She is filled with hazardous chemicals; cement, heroin, miscellaneous toxins i do not know the names for - shes injected it for that 20 second rush!
Because of her bodies severe reaction to the consistent drug ingestion, she vomits often, has slurred speech, and severely impaired vision. Though, her Murkoff-Issued tank and artificial heart keep her up and running, with a crank on the side of the tank allowing an extremely dangerous cocktail of lab-level chemicals and condensed air, along with other baseline hard drugs, to be shot into her body in an instant, giving her a massive, yet extremely short, burst of adrenaline and strength.
